Hull City: Hull Tigers name change submitted to FA

Hull City have formally applied to the Football Association to change the club's name to Hull Tigers from next season.
Owner Assem Allam wants to rebrand the Premier League club to appeal to a wider international audience.
Allam announced in August that the company name had already been changed to Hull City Tigers.
Unhappy Hull supporters have set up the "City Till We Die" protest group to oppose the plans.

Hull owner really thinks being called Hull Tigers will make a difference.

What a tool

Why can't the FA put something in place 2 stop owners being allowed 2 do this?

Because the owner has every right to do what he wants with his club.

So you'd have no problem with Tan doing the same with us?

I can see tan doing the same :(

As they are applying for a name change does this mean the FA can refuse them permission?

Please tell me where I've said that? I said that the owner has every right to do it because he owns the club. I'm not expressing the notion that it is a good thing to do. But you know, you read what you want.

So why does he have 2 apply 2 the FA? Wouldn't he just tell them he is doing it?

has to be officially sanctioned by the FA, yes.
They can refuse it, but I doubt they would. A few well placed cheques would ensure that...

We'll be like the NFL in no time

Well you don't seem to have a problem with Hull owner doing it, so to then moan about Tan doing it, would be extremely hypocritical, no? :laughing6:

Are you okay with it? You seemed to be defending his right to do so just now.

No. I signed the petition that Hull fans put around football forums etc to put forward to their owner. I'm against the re-brand of our club so It'd be hypocritical to just be fine with Hull's name change.

But sadly he does have the right to do it, does he not? That was my point. Not saying that it is fine for him to change their name.

Good. Apologies for that, I read it that you weren't that fussed.

He does - but he shouldn't. :ayatollah:

Not really, as it is within the FA rules that they can do so (as Milton Keynes Dons are a good example of)

I suppose the Hull City name change request could be viewed as a test case for other clubs.

Question is, if - and it is very much an if - it happened at Cardiff City would it really bother you that much? Or would the nature of the name change be the important factor?

not so long ago, many on here defending Tan tried clutching at straws, that a namechange would be against the rules of the FA and that it can't be done... ;)

I'm a realist - looking forward, not back. I'll support whatever team we have at whatever level we play whatever we are called and whatever colours we play in. As long as we stay in the city of Cardiff.

I was born within a goal kick of Ninian Park, been going to games since 1967, this is the best time I have ever known for the club and nothing or no-one is going to deprive me of enjoying the ride. :ayatollah: :ayatollah: :ayatollah:
