" having Andreas back helps, but he's a long term option" I just don't like hearing that, I mean cumon we're talking about our second highest signing. Read it this morning before work it's been on my mind a bit ,is it just me ? Cause I've been waiting to see the kid scare the shit out of defences..or is the boss trying to take the pressure off him a bit. F--king hope so...be interested to hear opinions.

Maybe's he just talking him down, Taking the pressure off him. Id be worried if what he says is true because if he's bought the player as a prospect who was he expecting to do the job for us? I'm sure he doesn't want to put to much on his shoulders to quick. :ayatollah:

On this point this worries me, I was told and I stated just after Cornelius signed that the Jacks manager would never have signed him and rated him at best Scottish Prem and that someone high in Denmark said he wasnt ready for Premier League, maybe in a couple of years.

With all those Millions spent we need Cornelius now. I am still hopeful :malky:

huge concerns here too, at the time our biggest ever signing, ive said this in other threads, we are not in a position to be signing for the future , 1st ever year in prem, and Malky seems to be playing down the clubs record signing, i hope its to take pressure off the boy and NOT to take pressure off himself. he signed him, he should now back his judgment.
8 million for us, he either is prem class or a massive mistake,i hope its class..its too much money to hide behind the one for the future excuse.

so when is an acceptable time to build for the future?

Cornelius has shown he's knocking on the door of the first team. IMO MM is just keeping the reins on him. Theres only so long he can do that though, if Cornelius was to score for us next game it would be hard to jusitify leaving him on the bench after that.

Re: This quote by Malky causes concern

I hope Malky takes his time with him. At the moment, we are primarily a defensive minded team and are doing ok without him. If we continue to stick to our current style of play we will stay up quite comfortably. In the mean time, we can get him used to the hourly-burly of Premier League life ready to push on next season.

Anyone expecting a change in our defensive minded tactics before the end of the season is going to be sadly disappointed. Malky is here for the long term, until Moyes gets sacked at Man Utd in about 2 or 3 years time and Malky, with a couple of year's Premier League management experience behind him, replaces him . To change our style of play now would be Premier League suicide.

In Malky we trust.

Time will tell I guess but if he ain't gonna play a big part this season 8.5million could have been spent on another striker who was ready to hit the ground running and keep us in the premier league. Hope I'm wrong but if cornelius doesn't play a big part this season then this is bad management by malky.

i hope he scores 20 mate................i hope he spent well.........but build for the future?..i keep reading how everyone will be happy to finish 17th.. so if its 1 place lower the FUTURE is in the championship.........we need to stay up NOW. ... you plan your future when your stable.. you dont take out a pension when you have no bread on the table.

Re: This quote by Malky causes concern

It's no good paying astronomical money for someone for the future when our main priority right now is survival, we're not Arsenal or Chelsea who can afford to nurture on multi million pound signings.Hope i'm wrong but i've a bad feeling about Cornelius, i thought he looked awful at Palace & looked clumsy & awkward running around like a headless chicken, time will tell but paying mega bucks on a chancer is a huge risk.

Re: This quote by Malky causes concern

Tue Dec 10, 2013 6:30 pm

Cornelius is the real deal but he can't produce if he's not picked. When the manager shows faith in him he will repay with goals which is what we are really lacking at the moment i.e no goal in the last 408 minutes of play.

Re: This quote by Malky causes concern

You simply don't pay 8m-ish for a player with potential in your first season in the premises, madness.

Glad I'm not the only one concerned by the comment , the term" future option"was'nt mentioned back in the summer..play a blinder Saturday son.

Totally agree and this has been worrying me for a while, i have said in other posts that the likes of chelsea, man utd, etc can bide their time with a young player but we can't, £8 million spent on a striker should be giving us 10-12 goals this season and maybe this had something to do with the moody sacking.

Re: This quote by Malky causes concern

Even today, with the money in football, not many clubs spend over £7m for a player for the future, especially a newly promoted club. He needs we need him to show his worth now.

Re: This quote by Malky causes concern

I think he'll be worth it, but I say again - it's no good placing hope and expectation on a striker when none of our strikers get a look in during the game, because of the tactics we're using; Cornelius will struggle just like the others without any service.

If this is really true ,can we really blame Tan for having a go at Malky, ok he got millions ,but being a Business man he wants value for his money, and so should we for our season tickets. Im have confidence in Malky but things like that has to put a ? on things.

But Moody and Malky are so amazing at buying players.

I personally think that Cornelius is class, just wing careful after injury I think he is being.

Have you ever considered that Laudrup possibly wanted to sign him but we got there first? And that the 'someone high in Denmark' (whoever that may be) didn't want to see him leave?

Martinez next United manager. Malky and his anti football will have no place at United.

Agree. His signing is almost 25% of the whole transfer budget! However to be fair on the lad... He hasn't been given a chance to prove yet! Only been on few times as sub!

Weve got plenty of bread on the table. I dont see why a club should stand still until they know for definite which division they will be playing in.

There will most likely be 2 plans, one for survival and one for relegation.

Cornelius is one for the future but is very much involved in the present. MM is just looking after him like any good manager would do.

Certainly not the lads fault, he cant control what is paid for him.
