Declan John

He's good with the ball, takes a man on or two and likes a shot. Taylor is better defensively IMO so....

Do you think he could play as a left winger? Surely a better option than moving Whitts out wide

His main position was as a left winger, malky converted him to LB

Andrew Taylor is 27 and a seasoned pro, Declan John has just turned 18 and has had 3 run outs at Premier League level, having only previously experienced Development Squad football, which is a huge step up!

Hopefully John will bulk up and grow a bit more height as well, but he's made a decent start to life in the Premier League IMO and I can only see him getting better & better!

Ive no doubt he will improve, he's done a decent job. Couple of mistakes here and there but with youngsters you have to accept them. :ayatollah:

The reason for my post is he looks like a left mid/winger more than a left back.

I agree, but as pointed out earlier, he's trying to make the transition and I think he'll make a very good full back, as opposed to a winger, where I think he'd find it harder to make the grade! :ayatollah:

Great that he's properly broken through. If he hadn't this season he would never had, I think he's better than taylor, just got to get comfy with mens football,

Get the confidence on the pitch and play as natural as he does for the dev squad with his mates, and we could see another luke shaw. I hope malky keeps him in the team and let's him develop into the player he is
