Malky Mackay admits to pressure at Cardiff City, but insists he's the man for the job
Monday 9th Dec 2013.
Poor defeat at Crystal Palace sees the Bluebirds a point off the drop zone, but the manager is holding his nerve
Cardiff manager Malky Mackay insists he can turn Cardiff City's fortune
Cardiff City boss Malky Mackay admits the “spotlight” is on his position as Bluebirds manager but insists he is still the man to keep the club in the Premier League.
He saw his men crash to a 2-0 defeat at struggling Crystal Palace, a result which saw them drop to just point just above the relegation zone.
The Bluebirds have won just once in their last nine outings, haven’t even scored in their last four away games and Mackay has seen his rapport with majority shareholder Vincent Tan come under intense scrutiny.
The Cardiff boss says he knows the pressure is on, but maintains Cardiff are still moving in the right direction under his guise.
“The spotlight has been on me for seven or eight weeks so I don’t see how this result is going to change it,” argued Mackay.
“Being the manager of a football club is a precarious job. It’s results based and it’s something that goes with the line of work I’m in.
“I think every manager has different pressures on them. Every seven days you are under the spotlight.
“But I’m the manager here for a reason. I’ve a group who I believe in, a group who have gone forward together. We’ve shown an upward trend in the way we have worked here at Cardiff.
“I’ve got confidence in my squad and my staff and our ability. That does not change. The evidence is there with what we have done over two and a half years at Cardiff.
“I don’t get too high or too low. I’ve got to keep the balance. We were exceptional against Stoke, drew against Manchester United a few weeks ago and ran Arsenal close.
“Were we cast adrift at the bottom of the league things might be different, but currently we are competing well at this level.”
Goals from former Bluebird Cameron Jerome and Moroccan international Marouane Chamakh grabbed the points for Tony Pulis’ Eagles in South London.
It was a result and performance Mackay said he was far from happy with, stating: “There is a disappointment with any defeat.”

He's just doing lip service before he gets back to training.
"Listen lads WBA are world class, they will have 80-90% possession so just back off"
"If I see any of you players within ten yards of Campbell I'll fine you a weeks wages, we will be too exposed defensively"
"Turner, training today is to lump balls up field, FC you run after them"

Perhaps I lost it in translation? Did Malky really say " we were exceptional at Stoke" I was at the game, was he actually there? Maybe he got confused with the Man City game!

What an odd thing to say.
I've always found his aftermath interviews very strange if i'm honest. Most his interviews sound like they come from a book but then again I liked DJ's interviews so

Good point up in stoke considering how they beat Chelsea on the weekend. Poor result against palace but there's plenty more games to put that right.
