Is it me or is smoking getting worse at away games? I know as a club we have always had problems with everyone smoking in the mens toilet but yesterday there were loads of fans openly smoking in the seats. Why can't people wait till the end of the game? Or even have the decency to go down stairs. My poor son was coughing his guts up yesterday afternoon.

Was impressed at Stoke, they let us out at half time

It is pretty bad at away games, toilets I don't mind but in their seats is poor form in my opinion.

Smokers are selfish....that's the nature of addiction.

I'll put my hands up. I was guilty yesterday of smoking where I was. If anyone had complained I'd have put it out and ventured outside to the smoking area near the toilets. Posting on the internet isn't going to deter anyone from smoking but if anyone has issues with it then why not man up and speak to the individuals and ask them nicely to not smoke, you never know you might get the answer you're hoping to get from here.

Millwall let us out and so do Reading - Coventry - Bristol City. We have asked our club to adopt the same approach as the above clubs but they're not having it.

Are you seriously saying that if another fan asked you to not smoke in your seat you would put your fag out?
By the very fact you were smoking there shows that you were being belligerent and anti social. As you knew you were breaking the law. You were probably spoiling for an argument with a steward or another fan. You should man up and respect your fellow fans!

For the record we had words and they eventually stopped. Mainly because another 4 or 5 fans came to help me out when I was told to f%&k off and do one! My personal opinion on the matter is that its getting worse. Been to 5 aways this season but yesterday was the worst ive seen smoking in the seats in a long while. I think a lot of our fans yesterday were stuck in a timewarp.

Yeah, they let us out at City. Just think they might as well at every ground, it's not causing them any issues. All they have to do is stick a few stewards outside, and it stops people breaking the law in the toilet.
People who say smokers are selfish are, to be frank, idiots. Would love to know their explanation for those comments.

The guy sat in front of me for the tail end of last season could not stop his constant farting and his funk just hung in the air - you could cut it with a knife. He's moved this season but has been replaced by a bloke with halitosis and who's breath smells like pickled shit. I'm going to campaign for a safe breathing area or just burn him.

Did your poor son sniff the coke, the various other substances? I got nicked for having a fag, Nottingham as usual, got the bitch done, eventually. Shit mate, your son may one day meet a female human, allan forbid, he may meet a CCMB person.
People smoke fags, deal with it, ciggy smokers in general don't do drugs. Go to CCMB, the druggies infest that place.

He's 10 and no he doesn't snort coke. I know people smoke and that is their choice, but smoking in public places is now illegal so how about getting used to that.

Never ceases to amaze me that some smokers think its ok for others to breath in their carcinogenic fumes.
People have the right to smoke, but not the right to force others to suffer it

If your fed up of cigarette smokers smoke, you'd be fu-ked off with mine !!!!!

Oh idiots are we, that comment is what is to be expected from a "nicotene addict". The majority of smokers I have come across are selfish, they dont give a toss for non smokers, including children. They are quite happy to impose their dirty, smelly addiction on anyone as long as they get their "fix". Just like smokers who are parents who quite happily smoke in their cars and homes and subject their kids, even babies to their filthy addiction. How much does it cost the NHS in smoking related illnesses a year? Oh but of course the selfish smoker doent care because they pay all that tax to enjoy their addiction!! It's interesting the comment regarding some guy with bad breath, stand or sit next to virtually any smoker and their breath and clothes stink of smoking. Also when it comes to litter I suggest you open your eyes and see how much litter is caused by smokers who "selfishly" just throw their smoking related rubbish on the floor. Not surprising though is it as "nicotine addicts" can always come up with an excuse for their addiction just the same as "drug addicts" do for theirs. Roll on the day smoking is banned in public completely and smokers should then pay an extra tax to provide little cubicles for them to choke in!!
Mon Dec 09, 2013 7:19 pm
And I for one don't like it going on in the toilets. Gotta hold my breath a long time when having a piss. If I needed a shit, God forbid, I'd need an oxygen tent! Can't these selfish people just go 90 mins without a drag and polluting the air?

While you may have put the put the fag out do you think all city fans would have been so polite. We have a lot of idiots as fans who are happy to cause trouble for any reason. You only have to look at the incident in the pub before the game as evidence. People shouldnt have to ask you to put it out.

I'd love to give up smoking, but working in a shitty job makes it hard to give up. I can go for a week before I feel the urge to kill someone.

Yes I would. Rolling tobacco actually I was smoking and every single city fan was breaking the law Saturday as everyone was standing or do you pick and choose which law is broken?

I was in the ground about 1 hour prior to KO. Standing at the bar smoking my E cig and a steward said I couldnt use it in the stadium and was told to I had to use it by the toilet area.

So you're trying to give up but was told you can only puff on the artifical cigarette if you smoke it with the actual smokers

I didn't really think of that, I was more surprised that he said I had to move when there were about 3 other guys around me smoking real cigs.

That is an urban legend started by smokers. You will eventually cost a hell of a lot more than you have paid in taxes. If we had to pay for private health care like they do in USA you may have a point.
