Petition To Drop Whittingham & Cowie

Sun Dec 08, 2013 11:08 am

Hope Malky and Vince are reading this!

I want to guage opinion for a lifesaving measure :- drop Whitts and Cowie in favour of our formation at the back end of last season when we did so much better; i.e. midfield of Mutch Kim (central) and Gunnarsson, together with Medel. Whittingham is becoming a liability, its like we are handicapped by playing with only 10 men from the start when he is picked. Inciidentally, I don't buy the argument about his terrific set piece deliveries - they dont happen any more! And in any case Kim, Mutch or Medel could do equally as good. He is not Premier class and neither is Cowie. Also, when Gunnarsson's shoulder improves later in the season , his throw in deliveries will be more useful than anything Mr sleepy slow, negative Whittingham can ever do! Two up front is also a must - Cornelius and Campbell for me!

Son of Malky shouldn't be anywhere near this division, he would struggle to get in most top half championship teams.
As for Whitts, he was horrific at Stoke but blame the master tactician for putting him wide again.

Brilliant !!!!!

"in favour of our formation at the back end of last season when we did so much better" errrr 2 wins from 10 games

" midfield of Mutch Kim (central) and Gunnarsson, together with Medel" what 4 central midfielders - don't think Malky has tried that

" his throw in deliveries will be more useful than anything Mr sleepy slow, negative Whittingham " So just launch it

We out bored everyone last season as we had a squad capable of doing that in the championship, we can't in this league. If we are Stoke then set up and play like Stoke, but if we keep giving the ball back to the opposition in this division we will be punished, severely.......

Malky got schooled yesterday by a more experienced manager, who by passed our passing midfield- because there is no one up field to pass to. 57% possession means nothing with a big zero in the goals column

We must have the slowest wingers in the Prem and with very little pace elsewhere in the team so yes, I have to agree that Whitts and Cowie, neither of whom are playing that well, should be rested in favour of wide players who offer the opposition a few problems. At the moment I'd probably play Odemwingie and Noone out wide but I'd love us to sign Montero in January and possibly Matt Phillips at QPR or Zaha on loan. As well as wingers we could do with a ball playing CB, a LB, someone in CM who can run past players, is comfortable on the ball and who pass accurately. Get those in and we might have a chance :ayatollah:

Re: Petition To Drop Whittingham & Cowie

I am not a fan of Whittingham,we were calling for him to be dropped last season and when he was,and MM put Mutch and Kimbo in it turned our season around,it needs to be done again we can't have him being carried week in week out,his distribution of late has been dire to say the least,we all know how well he can play on his day, unfortunately 'Brian the Snail' only comes out of his shell when it suits,Cowie on the other hand can put a shift in,he's always good to bring on to tighten things up later in the game as and when.Only my opinion of cause, hhhmmmm

You hope Malky reads this? Im pretty sure he doesnt post on here.

But if he did im sure he will add you to his coaching staff!

Malky picks his team like he does for a reason, we might not be happy with it, but he sees them day in day out, knows what is needed, and knows whats happening with players that we dont get to see. Also Cowie is in that team for a specific reason. Next game you go to at the ground, dont follow the ball, follow Cowie, He does alot tactically off the ball. He notices when gaps are appearing from loss of shape and fills in well. Hes not there to make 40 yrd becks passes, or score goals. he keeps things ticking over and tactically is by far our best player. Reads the game brilliantly from our shape perspective.

This argument is null a void Whitts set pieces have been shit for the last 3 games were also shit a villa chelsea etc.

Cowie takes good corners as does Bellers we've scored from them both alrweady this season. I dare say medel could take a corner.

Free kicks Bellers, Mutch,Noone and Cornelius can all take them.

if a professional football playing in the premier league cant take a decent corner there is something seriously wrong.

the football did look better, but 3 in 9 is hardly earth shattering either, and actually compares poorly to the season overall, 25 wins in 46
