A forum for all things Cardiff City

We spent £8 million on Andreas Cornelius, a player Malky has said is "one for the future", we've loaned out Joe Mason (which I still think is a terrible piece of management) with Malky claiming "he has a big future at Cardiff City", the question is, where are our strikers for the here and now, in the Premier League, where we can't buy a goal?!?

Cornelius has just come back from injury, we can't just expect him to be up to speed with the Premier League and bang in all the goals for us straight away, be patient.
Joe Mason isn't Premier League quality yet, he needs game time and going out on loan to the Championship is probably the best thing for him right now. Mason still needs to improve a lot before he can compete with Campbell, Odemwingie and Cornelius, and even Maynard. He will in time, he's one of our youngest players, again you've just got to be patient.

We are not creating enough, thats my only issue, he can say to 'be more clinical' but even world class strikers miss there chances... We need more shots at goal

I am more worried about lack of chances than lack of goals.

Totally agree, we could have Messi upfront in some games and it wouldn't help.
Malky did an interview about Cornelius and his huge potential but to me it's extremely naive to pay all that money for potential at this point in our progression.

I can't remember the last time a newly promoted team has chosen to spend that much money on a "player for the future" and not on a recognized goalscorer - it looks rather ridiculous when you look at our lack of goals. I would have liked to have seen Mason in and around the first team rather than at Bolton (smart player with great movement that makes intelligent runs and can finish). If we lose to WBA playing the same brand of un-inventive football, I can see Tan pulling the trigger, and honestly, it would be hard to argue. There is mini-league of teams we should be looking to attack and we have not beaten Norwich, Hull, Stoke, Palace or West Ham - and while I don't believe we are entitled to beat any of them, they are teams that are struggling and teams we should be looking to go and try to beat.
