Is a Director of Football the answer?

Sun Dec 08, 2013 12:13 am

Maybe if Malky had someone upstairs he would listen to and turn to for guidance because they have been there and got the T shirt, things could turn around?
The pressure he is under must be excruciating for someone so young, no other business/ industry would leave someone in this position on their own
I think he needs someone like Fergie (as an example) to help him through this crisis and turn the corner.
Thoughts?

Hasn't Dalman been suggesting getting a Director of Football?

Yes mate, look at Newcastle now that Pardew and Kinnear are working together
Maybe it's the answer to our problems too

Not sure how much Newcastle have benefitted from Kinnear becoming Director of football, but their results have started picking up of late.

Yes Kinnear. He got one player in on loan and rang birmingham to attempt to buy a player off them, only to be told he is actually at brum on loan from Newcastle........

I would worry about Tans choice ... look what happened when moody went.

For the next 10 years a DoF is a must, but it will not help us today.

I wouldn't like to see a DoF come in but someone with football knowledge at board level would be useful (as rumoured).

I wouldn't like to see someone come in just above Malky, it seems pointless. The job as manager should be that, Malky needs to sort himself or be replaced.

I didn't realise we were in a crisis.

Some of you expect too much. It's our first time in the top flight in a very long time.

If you didn't expect the possibility of a relegation battle you are very naive. Or just dull as f**k.

When will people realise its just as much the manner of performances not just where we are. Malky will not change as 6 wins in 27 shows.

Maybe the answer is to get our stubborn manager to try palying in a less defensive way.

Crystal Palace - in the bottom three, playing one of their relegation rivals so what do they do? Play two strikers (who each scored) and approach the game as one in which they can get a vital three points.

Cardiff City - just above the bottom three, playing one of their relegation rivals so what do they do? Play one lone striker, lump the ball towards him, don't support him from midfield and approach the game as one in which if they defend well enough they can secure a valuable point, that being the absolute limits of their ambition.

As soon as Palace went ahead be honest - did anyone really think we were going to actually WIN the game?

If you did, good luck to you.

Dont have a laptop but its such an awful stat its hard to forget.

Do you think that stat is acceptable for over £45m worth of transfers

Couldn't care less really, we're averaging a point a game and by that means would be near safety mathematically. I'm content with that knowing we are well on course for survival.

There is a lot of bad stats at the moment

No away goals for 7 hours of football

No goals at all for 4.5 hours of football

Most chances conceded against in the league

Worst form of any team in the League

Only 6 wins in 27 games

1 win in last 9 games

Been on last on motd more than any other club

I still believe though and the only stat that matters right now is our league position :ayatollah:
c'mon malkey show us what your made of :malky:

I don't want a change (yet) I think he deserves until after the arsenal game at least , I just want a bit more attacking football instead of sitting back and hoofing it .
He has built a squad capable of staying up that is in no doubt , now he needs to get his tactics and game plans right for each individual game because at the moment we are way to predictable and have been worked out .

Saying that I think he is quite stubborn and will persist with this style which will only end one of two ways , he will be sacked or he will be given time and we will get relegated . We can't stay up playing this style we won't earn enough points although it will probably be close .
