A forum for all things Cardiff City
Thu Dec 05, 2013 1:47 am
Just got back from Stoke.
I am happy with a draw away
Scrappy/battling game/Fair result in my opinion.
But some of our fans moaning saying the result not good enough
A few saying sack Malky and on here and other forum
But everyone is allowed their opinions/beliefs, I am just shocked by them on this.
First of all a point away in the Premier League to a team above us in my opinion is a good point, as long as we beat teams like Stoke at home
As to saying Sack Malky, what planet are some fans on? Malky in his 3rd season as our manager has brought us nothing but success after success and deserves this full season no matter what happens in my opinion.
So Malky makes mistakes, dont all managers?
Malky is still learning is he not?
So if we sack Malky, whats plan B?
Do these players not give their all for Malky?
Is it not so long ago that Malky won the Championship at a canter, short memories?
Another question to everyone, what do u think Stoke fans will be thinking? Surely they would of expected to beat Cardiff City at home?
Does Malky or not stand up when its needed and get us over the final hurdle, Promotion, wins against clubs like Man City/Jacks, draw against Man United and grind out results at places like Hull & Stoke ?
Surely Malky deserves this full season?
Thu Dec 05, 2013 1:51 am
He's got the tactics right most games. Tonight included
Thu Dec 05, 2013 1:53 am
shit game, but a good point away from home! like you said, if we beat the teams in the bottom half at home we'll be ok!
as for malky, doesn't deserve the sac! we're above the relegation zone, thats the aim! he does need to think about us attacking more though! multiple times players made runs with the ball and they had no options to pass to! would like to see Noone and Cornelius come in!
Thu Dec 05, 2013 1:59 am
You would generally expect Cardiff fans to be happier with the point than Stoke fans.
I suspect that dissatisfaction in any one game is partially derived from a lack of inspiration in most games this season. A lack of goal attempts or other moments to inspire the fans. Having spent £30m fans want to see a bit more taking the game to the opponents.
Thu Dec 05, 2013 2:20 am
To be honest - pissed off with everyone negativity for fook sake support your club and be proud !
We cant keep knocking the team were not going to win every game fact ( we have spent millions only our dreams could we ever think we would be spending 30-40 million on players two years ago yes a few bad results but hey hoe this is the premiership Malky and the boys have worked hard - tan as spent a fortune - yes he's upset a lot of us along the way -lets start thinking positive and get positive thought and extremely loud vocal support rocking every home and away and back the manager and the team over the line and grind some results starting Saturday at Palace onwards and upwards Blue birds !
Thu Dec 05, 2013 2:48 am
We have no divine right to beat any team in this division. Most of the fans that are moaning and want better results/want malky out are the ones who have only starting supporting the club in the past five years. Some people are used to winning many games in the Championship that they aren't happy with having to settle for less in the premierleague. People need to have realistic expectations
Thu Dec 05, 2013 5:40 am
Annis malky plays shit football week in week out people want more for there custom, you mention plan B yet I don't know if malky knows what that means, its the most boring football I've seen for years, yes we got a point but if we can not string 5 passes together vs teams around us down there we are fucked.
Thu Dec 05, 2013 6:25 am
Stoke have only conceded 3 goals at home all season so a point is a great result, unbelievable reaction by some of our fans. Ok perhaps it was not pretty to watch but its another point on the board. 3 points Saturday and were laughing. Onwards and upwards.
Thu Dec 05, 2013 7:08 am
The modern day sky generation fan knows fu….. All about building a solid foundation on which a football club can build long term success. Fickle breed, its these fans that put bullets into directors trigger happy guns!
Thu Dec 05, 2013 7:15 am
I agree Annis, his tactics are defensive away to try and get at least a point, I'm sure he will be a bit more attacking against the weaker teams at home.
His job was to keep us up, and despite a very tough fixture list at the first half of the season he is on track to do it

Spot on.
The way people bang on about the home games against the lesser teams to come is like we just got to turn up and the 3 points are ours.
Having witnessed our shit brand of anti football for too long now then unless he seriously changes his philosophy then that wont be the case.
We have failed to score or create f**k all at West Ham, Norwich, Villa and Stoke. All teams in our mini league.
Weve spent 35m+ and cant string 5 passes together and dont create f**k all. 14 games and 7 of those we have failed to score and dont look like f*cking scoring.
As fans we have every right to be concerned.
Thu Dec 05, 2013 7:47 am
Totally agree Annis. Some of our fans think we have a god given right to beat every team in our path!
Personally I think we are doing fine and will continue to improve over the course of the season.
Thu Dec 05, 2013 7:54 am
Awful game to watch but another point on the way to safety.
I thought we were going to nick it at the end and was disappointed to see FC being subbed.
And if i hear that fuckin dont sack Mackay song again !!!!
Thu Dec 05, 2013 8:39 am
I would have thought our main aim this season is to avoid relegation. We are on track for that, and at the start of the season I think 15th position would have been a realistic target. It would be nice to be higher, but survival is always the number one priority for most promoted teams, and we have quite a few home games on the way where you would hope we can pick up a few wins. My main complaint is lack of goals when we have an £8 million striker sitting on the bench, looking forward to seeing what he can do.
Thu Dec 05, 2013 9:01 am
I thought we more than held our own against a very physical side - I saw no evidence of them trying to play football and Adam and Crouch in particular could easily have walked if the ref hadn't been such a homer. How did Campbell get booked after he had been thrown to the floor by Crouch in the wall was totally beyond me.
Malky surely missed a trick by not using Noone to supply crosses to Cornelius who could have roughed them up a bit as their defence tired. I can understand that he wanted to keep it tight through the middle, but with Whitts offering nothing outside then Noone seemed the obvious choice. Odemwingie for Campbell offered nothing different, and if that was the way Malky was thinking he should have left Campbell on as despite them kicking him throughout the game, he caused them problems as both he and Mutch won their fair share of headers against big centre backs.
The main plusses for me were John who was solid and got forward with intent a few times - something Taylor never seems to do and Campbell who worked his socks off and should have had a penalty for his efforts. Mutch got into some good positions and worked hard but his finishing was poor.
Thu Dec 05, 2013 9:10 am
Im not suggesting we have to sack malky, i always like to have a better plan ready to put in place.
But i do think we need to be taking 3 points from teams on poor runs of form around us. Or if not winning, at least being the better team, even away from home.
Thu Dec 05, 2013 9:13 am
He got his tactics all wrong imo. He set up for a point and thats what we got. Its all well and good setting up for a point at places like Arsenal, Man City etc (top sides) but Stoke ??? This is a team coming of the back of a 4-0 pasting at the weekend. What was Campell going to do upfront on his own with there centre half at 6ft 4. Had a bench to change it and he never did. we had no width (gunnerson, Medal and cowie) and are not going to get forward alot. Then in a master stroke he takes Campell off and puts Odemwingie on (like for like), why not go 2 up front give them something to think about. Whitts was shit all game and looked tired. If we go to teams like this, with this defensive mentality we will go down no question about that. Really cant see any positives from last nights game and I normally can. On a final note why did he not play Cornelius, the guys 6ft 4 or whatever he is (least for 20 mins or so). Really didnt understand his thinking last night.

Sorry pal but your talking bollox.Malky will keep what is little more than a very good championship side in the prem and he won't do it by adopting Holloway type tactics cause that will almost certainly get us back there.

Says the one who is happy to make up and stir things up with getting Malky saked just to get hits to generate views and money? Annis if you honestly believed on Malky you would stop making crap lies about him getting sacked in the near future. Hypocritical to say the least.

although i can see your sentiments do you think a loss against palace and a draw against west brom would not see malky pushed out the door.
i believe the moment we were to drop into the bottom three tan would push the panic button and malky would be gone

i dont think he will last even that long. I really believe he will be out the door if we lose to palace on saturday.

Annis, you must be easily pleased is all I can say. Stoke last night, were there for the taking, no argument, so were we, come to that and neither manager had the balls or confidence in his team to go all out for it. If we took 3 pts last night, that takes the pressure off the next game. Moving onto Saturday, play like that against Palace and they will do us, IF that happens then we come away with 1 point from two winnable games. Now, there's a lot of ifs and buts there

but it's my belief that you have to take all the points when the opportunity presents itself and we didn't try to do that last night. As you say, I really hope Malky is learning from these experiences.
Thu Dec 05, 2013 10:40 am
Annis, I agree with most of what you say but it is said on the hopeful presumption that we will beat these so called "weaker teams" at home.

These so called weaker teams will have strengthened by the time they come to us and If they are above us in the table they are certain not to be playing for the draw.
Having watched last nights game against Stoke, I would say, yes we may be happy with a point away from home but have to say that I felt we could have won that game but seemed Malky was still happy to play for the point. Cannot understand the Campbell/Odemwengie change (accept for the Campbell yellow card) when we were clearly playing the better football of the two bad teams.
Surely when an opportunity like that comes along you must try and go for the extra 2 points on offer.
Like others on here, I am getting a bit fed up with negativity of play, week in week out - not really enjoying it to be honest.
Yes, ok against the better teams and try and get something on the break, as we have proved we can do already this season. But week in week out - I think I would rather go down fighting than in a damp squib !!!
Bloooobirds !!!

Stex, you cannot say nothing against Malky on this forum he can do no wrong in some peoples eyes even though thestatistics tell a completely different story.
Thu Dec 05, 2013 11:58 am
Disappointed with the way he set up the team last night.
Disappointed with the lack of attacking substitutions when plainly Stoke were there to be beaten.
Delighted though with the efforts and work ethic of the team.
Thu Dec 05, 2013 12:00 pm
In my opinion a stoke team who havent won since august, were there for the taking. Im happy with a point, as its better than nothing, but we cant afford to not win these games.
We cant afford to bank on saying we will beat them at home.
Points in the bag means alot more than possible wins later on. What happens now if we play stoke at home and we all expect the 3 points, but whitts and marshall are injured and caulker is suspended. Would we expect a win then?
Thu Dec 05, 2013 12:59 pm
we should never get rid of Malky, he is doing a great job! But Stoke were there for the taking last night, they couldn't hit the target! We should of attacked them! Whittingham had a bad game, Gunnarsson wasn't in it! Should of got Noone on the pitch! I was disappointed to leave with a point! It will be a tougher game Saturday. Other teams are picking up wins and we are drawing games. We need to some points on the board.
