Mis-selling tactics at EE Merthyr?

Tue Dec 03, 2013 8:13 pm

Just wondered what is classed as mis-selling sales tactics?
I used to work at EE phone company in Merthyr (T-Mobile / Orange).
During telesales training they were telling us how to close the sale, by stating to customers that we would speak to the manager because of their loyalty and then put the customer on hold. We would give it a minute or so then tell them that because of their loyalty then the manager would give them this great deal but it was available for today, putting pressure on the customer which worked the majority of the time....which in fact was lies as the manager was never asked at all.
That was part of their tactics, it opened up my eyes in Merthyr :o :o :o
No wonder they brag about bringing home including commission £3000 to £4000 a week on telesales :o :o :o
Is this type of telling lies to the customer to close the sale legal or illegal?

So you used to work there, now you do not.
Where was this sense of morality when you did work there?
What were the conditions of you termination of employment?

Not having a pop just trying to get the bigger picture.

Because I have supplied that place in the past and they would be lucky to get £1.5k per month!!!!

I can tell you, that's what some are earning , if you fancy a large wager, let me know and I will get my mates pay statement to prove it ;)

EE is dominating the market and the other companies are a year behind, the ipads offers and new phone with 4G, broadband etc are going absolutely crazy.

I hated working there, because that's not the type of work I wanted to do although the bonuses were immense, it wasn't for me.

The telesales though is incoming, the customers ring this number if they want to buy something, you get bonuses for this plus what ever you sell them on top

You supplied that in the past, how long ago.

Do me a favour and ring one of your contacts at Merthyr who is in the know.
Telesales are incoming. Customers ring this number to buy things not for queries, every sale a bonus plus then you sell them extra whilst on the phone like home broadband, they will pay you up to 100 quid out of another contract etc.... :D

At the end of the day the MERTHYR branch is still MIS-SELLING, by telling lies on the phone to get the sales for their bonuses

Its not really mis-selling though, mis selling only really covers the price, contract length and contract contents. so if you saying they would get more data/minutes than they are getting then it IS mis-selling. but just saying its a special offer or whatever isn't...morally it is quite dodgy obviously, but not illegal (hence why supermarkets get away with having beer "half price" all year round)

As a previous poster stated it isn't mis-selling however I still have my doubts that they are making that amount there given my experience with them in the past.

Definitely making over 3000 in bonuses then their basic on top - fact.
Just ask some of the team leaders there or workers who are in the incoming telesales section.
Im willing to have a very large wager with you :D
