Dave Jones lined this deal up before he got sacked.
Sheffield Wednesday have signed former Cardiff and Celtic defender Glenn Loovens on a short-term contract.
The 30-year-old centre-back has been a free agent since leaving Real Zaragoza in June, but has been awaiting clearance from the Spanish FA.
Loovens is eligible to play in Tuesday's match against Championship-leaders Leicester at Hillsborough.
Former Wednesday boss Dave Jones, who was sacked on Sunday, managed the Dutchman during his spell with Cardiff.
Loovens has two caps for the Netherlands, and six at Under-21 level.

Decent player for us. Looked as if he could have gone on to greater things, but opted to play in a Mickey Mouse league. Sad, but familiar, story.

Thought Loovens was excellent for us but he couldn't wait to sign for a "bigger" club when Celtic came calling.
Now he's on loan at a club in the relegation places of the Championship. Does he wonder what might have happened if he'd stayed with Cardiff for a few more years?
Although I seem to remember there were suggestions of "other reasons" as to why he was anxious to leave the club when he did.
