Had a debate (unresolved) with a Liverpool fan today, deciding whether Gary Medel was as good as or better than Lucas.


Please bare in mind that Gary has a 89% pass success rate.
Whereas Lucas has 90.9% pass success rate.

Gary makes 56 passes per game.
Lucas makes 63 passes per game.

Gary tackles 2.5 times a game.
Lucas 5.

Gary gets beaten 1.2 times a game.
Lucas gets beaten 1.5 times a game.

Lucas plays in a midfield often consisting of England legend Stephen Gerrard, £12m Jordan Henderson and £15m Joe Allen.
Gary plays in a midfield consisting of former Villa player Peter Whittingham, Iceland captain Aron Gunnarsson, £2m Jordan Mutch, £3m Kim-bo Kyung (Asian young footballer of the year) and Don Cowie.


Gary has played 13 Premier League matches and despite an excellent start to his Cardiff career, is still adapting to his new surroundings.
Lucas is now embarking upon his 7th year in the Premier League.

Personally I think Gary is as good as Lucas, but I think he has the potential to be better once he has had a full Premier League season under his belt.

Close one. I think they are both on the same level really as much as I love Gary Lucas is a class act and I would say is marginally better but not by much. Lucas has been playing in the prem for a good few years now as well which im sure would have benefitted him.

Have to agree - the stats say Lucas is better at present, but give Medel a couple of seasons and it could well be a different story.
