Both of these sides lost at the weekend - Cardiff were beaten 3-0 at home to Arsenal on Saturday but I think that was because they were trying hard to get something out of the game at 1-0 and got their pockets pinched twice late on.
Stoke, however, were pretty poor as they went down 4-0 at Everton. The Potters will also be without injured defender Robert Huth for a month, but I still think their manager Mark Hughes will demand they bounce back on Wednesday.
This is a horrible fixture for Cardiff too because they go from taking on a side that play like Arsenal, to a side that play like Stoke.
That is what the Premier League is all about, and they should be able to deal with it, but I would still back the Potters to win.

Both teams need to respond to weekend defeats here. After losing 3-0 at home to Arsenal on Saturday Cardiff are fourth bottom, despite how great they've done this season. Stoke, meanwhile, are on the same points (13) and just above Cardiff on goal difference, even though they shipped four at Everton. So this is another big game. Stoke got well beaten at Goodison Park but I'd expect them to just nick this one 2-1. If Cardiff can get a draw they'll be more than happy with that, though.
