Tony Pulis fires Cameron Jerome and Marouane Chamakh warning to Cardiff City and fellow Premier League survival hopefuls
Monday 2nd Dec 2013

Boyhood Cardiff City fan Tony Pulis is hoping they drop points this week as they face is former club Stoke and current club Crystal Palace, while he plans to haul his team out of the Premier League relegation mire.

Once the dust has settled on Tuesday night's London derby between Crystal Palace and West Ham you can guarantee Eagles boss Tony Pulis will turn his attention to Cardiff City's clash at Stoke.

The Newport born boss, who left the Potteries after being replaced by Mark Hughes last summer, will not only be interested in the prospect of his former club facing his boyhood team but will also be watching the two teams who occupy the immediate spots above the Premier League drop-zone, where they are joined with the Hammers on 13 points.

Pulis, who admits he's delighted to be back in work, will be hoping that by the time the Potters host the Bluebirds, the club he took over last week will have closed the gap on the troubled trio to three points.

And he's backing another familiar face, in the shape of former Bluebird Cameron Jerome, to be the man to fire the south Londoners to safety.

He said after Saturday's defeat at fellow strugglers Norwich: "Cameron’s always a threat if he plays to his strengths."

The no-nonsense striker is currently on loan at Palace but was signed by Pulis for Stoke for £4m on the summer deadline day of 2011.

Even Jerome he only fired seven goals in 50 games, his boss knows all about the impact he can make as a target man, providing chances for the players around him.

The striker, who will be tasked with firing Palace out of trouble, alongside to ex Birmingham man, is former Arsenal frontman Marouane Chamakh.

And Pulis has fired a warning to the Bluebirds and their fellow Premier League survival hopefuls that their strike partnership can fire Palace up the table.

He said of Chamakh: “I really hope we can get him on board because he’s got really good quality.

“He linked up well with Cameron, and we have to make sure those two have a partnership and a relationship and that they play together as a pair.”

Once the Bluebirds have finished at the Britannia Stadium on Wednesday, they can look forward to Saturday's trip to Palace, which will resemble a reunion as Jerome is joined by fellow former Bluebirds Danny Gabbidon, Darcy Blake and Neil Alexander at Selhurst Park, Wales internationals Jonny Williams and Lewis Price also currently ply their trade at the Premier League's bottom placed club.

After nailing down a three-and-a-half year contract with captain Mile Jedinak today, their back in work boss said: “Of course (I have missed the game), I’m a football man, and sometimes you do need a break and be out of it.

“There are seven teams in the Premier League who are miles away from where we are at the moment but you're hoping and praying you pick points up against the rest.”
