' MALKY CONFIDENT AHEAD OF STOKE AND PALACE '

Sun Dec 01, 2013 10:41 pm

From Daily Mirror.

Cardiff boss Malky Mackay is convinced they have proved they can avoid instant relegation back to the Championship with their performances against the big guns.

The Welshmen sit 17th after Saturday's loss to leaders Arsenal, and have beaten title contenders Manchester City and drawn with champions Manchester United on their visits to the Principality.

Cardiff will need big results in their next two games - away to fellow relegation candidates Stoke and then Crystal Palace in the space of four days - if they are to climb away from danger, though.

Mackay said: "What I've got is a group that has showed consistently that they have played at this level, to have that belief among not only my staff but also my players gives me great hope that in May we will still be competing in this league.

"It will be about fresh legs and making sure people are right and ready going into the two games.

"They're two tough away games and getting anything away in this league is not easy. But we go into that fresh on the back of playing the champions and probably the best team in Britain within seven days."

Will these next two results decide Malkys future? They are two massive games against teams in our own little division. We have had the justifiable excuse thus far, that the teams we gave played are teams that we would do very well to get anything from, but these games offer us the opportunity to see how good we really are and how good a manager Malky really is. I personally believe that nothing but 4 pts from these games will satisfy a great deal of our support or more importantly our very impatient owner.

I'm glad to see he's more confident than Iam of his managerial abilities. It seems we only raise our game when the Opposition have the name "Manchester" in the title.

Hate to say it but if we dont get atleast 4 points from these 2 games it'll be the end of Malkys reign.

It's tough as these are away. No doubt palace and Stoke will have lined these up as games THEY need to win too in order to stay up. let's not forget that the worst performance and most 1-sided game we've had this year was Norwich where we got the luckiest point we've had for years.
