My own feeling is that Malky must be given the whole of this season and if we get relegated, a decent opportunity to get us back up again.

I wonder how many people singing that song would hold the same opinion if we were in the bottom three at say Easter?

He got 6 games to save his job or ill be changing the words to:

Please sack Mackay
Malky Mackay
I just dont think you understand
That if you dont sack Mackay
Malky Mackay
Youre gonna have a relegation on your hands.

Oh dear god! We won't get anywhere with a knee jerk reaction of sacking Malky! Malky has got us to where we are now and even if we do get relegated, he deserves at least another 18 months. If we get relegated, I would have faith in Malky getting us back to the Premiership and we will be a lot stronger the next time. West Brom took years of bouncing up and down and look at them now.

On the other hand, we could take the Wolves route with Mick McCarthy and go down to League 1! Malky has been our best manager in my life time and if we get rid of him, I don't think we would be able to get anyone much better. We need stability in our first Premiership season, the stability to continue building and improving. If we sack Malky, we will get relegated, if we keep Malky, we have a very good chance of staying in the Premiership.

I'm sure we'll be looking a lot better by this time next week mate. Two very winnable games coming up.

Agreed but both games are away and any away game is tough in this league. I am hoping we will get at least 4 points but I don't think 2 draws would be the end of the world as that will mean neither team will gain points on us and we still have them both to play at home.

I honestly think Malky can take us to the next level, but obviously it will take a bit longer than Southampton's rise as I don't think Malky will ever have 12m to spend on a Wanyama and 13m to sign an Osvaldo in the same season.

Eh? He had more to spend than Southampton did in their first season and didnt spend far off that in Caulker and Medel anyway.

I mean individual transfer fees. Malky wanted Wanyama but Tan wouldn't fork out the extra million or two. Southampton paid over 13 million for Gaston Ramirez last season and overall, spent nearly 36 and a half million. Similar to our spending this season so far, but Southampton have signed two 13 million pound players and a 12 million pound player. It doesn't seem Malky has the luxery to spend fees like that. Our record signing Medel was only 9 and a half million.

More to managing a club than buying players and picking a team for Saturday, our club has evolved, improved and developed on and off the field. lets wait until May.... Baby steps ...... "Don't sack Mackay"

dont think Tan wanted to get involved in an auction......Truth is Southampton ended up paying quite a bit more than they originally valued him at...only time will tell.

Re: Don't sack Mackay!

i believe Malky should stay, but sacking him at the end of the month wouldnt really be "knee jerk" i think we need to get a win out of one of these two matches this week. Even if that means we lose the other one. West Brom Southampton and Sunderland at home, despite Southamptons fantastic start all three of those are winnable. As many have said, Decembers a big month, and if we are in the relegation zone at christmas i dont think Malky will still be here.

Depends on which news you read most reports Ive read say Medel 11m and Ramirez 12m, hardly much difference especially when you consider we also paid 9m+ on Caulker, 8.5m on Cornelius.etc. and their next biggest signing was Rodriguez at 7m.

Whichever way you look at it having spent 35m+ we had as much, if not more to spend than Southampton in their first season.

The little Argie kept them up with ease and decided to spend this summers budget on 2 marquee signings, having already build the basis of a good squad last year.

You can make as many excuses for Malky as you like but having money to spend will fall on deaf ears cos hes had a massive budget for a promoted club. Massive.

Perhaps if he hadnt wasted money on the likes of Brayford he could signed a Wanyama or an Osvaldo himself.

Re: Don't sack Mackay!

Mon Dec 02, 2013 9:21 am

brayford cost 1.5m, hardly a massive amount of cash really though of course, a complete waste which is a shame.

Southampton is a bad example, they have pretty much dealt with the last season and a half perfectly, have plenty of players coming through the youth system, and have spend what money they have on good players who can make a true difference to the side, having said that i still expect them to drop down the table a little to around 9th/10th which shows just how good and consistent the top part of the league is.

Back to Mackay, and there is the very real possibility that we will be in the relegation zone at christmas should we not pick up a win in either of these two away matches. That alone is grounds to sack a manager in this day in age. As someone else has pointed out, the three teams below us have all sacked their managers and more will go this season.

How the hell is Southampton a bad example?

We both got promoted with a similair quality squad, both spent 35m+, both with a manager the fans adore and both struggled early doors.

They replaced their manager and kicked on.

Tonteg said we couldnt afford a Wanyama.

Medel + Brayford = Wanyama
