THE EXCUSES STOP RIGHT HERE. RIGHT NOW.

Sat Nov 30, 2013 10:02 pm

Ok the last two weeks have been a freebie. The point against Utd was a bonus and its hard to be critcal today as Asenal are top of the league fot a reason and have passed bigger and better teams than us off the park.

Weve played most of the top 10 at home now and Liverpool away aside December is a month that weve got to be targetting points.

Weve had 4 months to adapt to this level. No more excuses.

Big time for malky the next two games which are tough away but winnable, we cannot be in the relegation zone after these games as this is then a good amount of games into the season

Chill out son we are doing fine, i would take 2 wins and 2 draws from these 5 games in Dec all day stoke, palace, west brom, Sunderland or Southampton. That would take us to 21 points with half the season to play

I think considering the money spent in the last two years we are in the minimum position we should be. We have winnable games coming up and now is the time to produce goods.

Malkys main aim this year is to stay in the league right? if we are bottom 3 by end of december. malky will be in deep shit. Tan will probs sack him!

Malky was always gonna be judged on the games against the teams around us and not the High Flyers.

I agree with the OP in the sense that, we now know City are better when they play more openly and attack, rather than get 10 men behind the ball and hope we score from a corner.

This being the case, I'm not saying we should batter the next few teams we play, but we should look to have a go at them.

It all starts Wedsnesday night.

Come Christmas if we are in a relegation spot opinions of them will be totally different to opinions of today.

In fairness MM had to spend money in the last two years cos when he started we had no players. Except Parkin!

Stoke, Palace, WBA seven points from the next three, and we will be way up the table :ayatollah:

You are right we should be more adapted to this level and the players have had plenty of time to gel into a team. In a sense our season starts wednesday.

Do you concede that there has been a far more positive approach from malky in the last two matches tho? Its good to see but naturally we need to take tjis forward against palace and stoke this week. Noone has looked lively when coming on and whilst I dont expect him to start I do want tp see him brought on more often now

December and January are make or break...

I expect to lost the away games against the big teams. If we do lose those then of the games that's left we need to win 4 out of 6 at a minimum

Stoke (A) Win
Palace (A) Win
WBA (H) Draw
Lpool (A) - Lose
Shampton (H) Draw
Sunderland (H) Win
Arsenal (A) - Lose
WHam (H) Win
Man City (A) - Lose
Man Utd (A) - Lose

This will give us 27 points at end of January. To be honest... I would be very happy to be in that position at end of January. It's definitely achievable but wouldn't expect us to do any better than that.

I dont concede anything Paul that would mean I would be wrong.

What have I been wrong about?

We were still hoofing yesterday and worringly Caulker more than Turner.

Campbell was isolated once again.

But as I said Arsenal is a freebie so no grumbles about at the defeat it was expected.

I think we have had a crazy fixture list . We appear to be playing all the top teams at home and the weaker teams away.
Obviously that will change after Christmas with Sunderland being the first to visit us.
Stoke and Palace are also fighting for their lives and I will accept draws ere ..

It's going to go down to the wire me thinks and Malky will need to keep the morale high.

Your confusing your seasons, his first season he didn't have many players (like when Jones took over) and he built a squad, the following season he spent good money and took us up, now this this season he has spent big.

he may not have spent huge the 1st year..but did bring in players who had run down their contracts ,mostly players who had reffused contracts and came here for the money............NOT having players is a managers dream....bring in your own guys, and not have to deal with what you have..even Malky says that

Agree with you that wednesday is the start of a vital month, i think we should be looking to get at least eight points, i like malky and want him to stay but if we are in the relegation zone come the end of the year then malky will be gone.

He may have spent a lot of money but we only bought a low number of players. You need to spend like that in two to three windows to build a squad capable of comfortably staying in the premier league. we are a long way short of that and still a championship squad with a few premier league players. This is going to be a tough season all the way through and people saying that because we spent a few quid it gives us the right to mid table safety are living in cloud cuckoo land.
