Bluebirds Unite Official Statement

Bluebirds Unite Official Statement:

First off, we'd like to thank all of those that took part in the recent march. Your support is greatly appreciated.

In the wake of some intense and in our opinion, unwarranted criticism over recent weeks, we'd like to clarify our stance on a number of things:

Our core goal remains the restoration of our traditional blue home kit and a return to full prominence for Cardiff City's historic bluebird on the club emblem.

We also believe that a football club should be an integral part of the community and, as such, there should be far greater fan engagement than we are currently seeing at Cardiff City. To that end, we politely suggest that all of our supporters also consider giving their full backing to Cardiff City Supporters Trust.

We are not a group with a specific 'Tan Out' agenda - that said, given the events of the past eighteen months, it is inevitable and entirely understandable that there will be very strong feelings surrounding Cardiff City's majority shareholder. Regardless of that, we wholeheartedly condemn any chants or slogans of a racist or abusive nature.

We also recognise that it's a 'free country' and people can wear what they want. As a group, we consider the wearing of red Cardiff City merchandise to be entirely counterproductive as regards our goal of seeing our traditional identity restored. However, abuse of any kind against those who choose to wear red...or, indeed, blue...is unacceptable.

Our Facebook page was set up with the best of intentions. Unfortunately, much of the misinformation surrounding Bluebirds Unite's official line on matters appears to have emanated from that source. People appear to have viewed members comments and used it as a way to misinterpret or discredit Bluebirds Unite's official stance on things. We are, therefore, disabling the option to post for the time being and looking for another way that our members can communicate. The Facebook page will continue to be used for certain posts and announcements and there is a Bluebirds Unite News Page on Facebook where posts can left in the meantime. We are also working on ways of improving the official website, please bear with us.

Finally, we would like to reiterate our thanks to all of you who have supported us over the past 8+ months. We have come a long way since our first event at Cardiff Castle on that gloriously sunny day. We were proud to step into the breach and stand up for our club's identity when there was no other meaningful opposition to the rebrand. Inevitably, we are still on a 'learning curve' and with your continued help and support we look forward to getting stronger. With this in mind, we will be canvassing opinion over the coming weeks to ascertain the best way forward.

For us, it is and always has been all about Cardiff City FC and the restoration of fundamental elements of the clubs identity.

Pointless remark from 64. Starting a habit of that...

Whilst the OP was a good statement the damage has already been done.
Had this been issued 10 days ago when people were asking for it I have no doubt there would've been larger numbers at the last walk.

Also if the statement is genuine why were the people who were waving anti tan banners not asked to remove them?

Like I said a good statement but it has come to late, this I kinda like an appology letter from a rail company after you've been in a train crash...

I agree that this is a good statement, and would get plenty of support if it wasn't for idiots like Blue 64 who are stirring within minutes of this release. It was because of these people I couldn't support this movement last week, and I worry that your efforts are going to be spoilt again. I hope I am proved wrong, and everyone sticks to the primary objective of getting blue reinstated.

Bu's aim has always been to try and get blue reinstated to our home kit, isn't that what we all want.
It's a good statement and clarifies Bu's position.Well done bluebirds unite.

I'm not really reading it as an apology, tbh. It seems to me to be more of a statement that they will, perhaps, steer a different course.

As regards numbers on the last march, tbf to BU, I think had the march taken place a few days after Moody left the club, then attendees would have been three or four times higher.

Reading the statement, it also says that BU will seek the opinion (from the wider fanbase, hopefully) about the direction to go. I think it's really important that they do this, sooner rather than later, imo.

Events of last 18 months? Is that the decision to change to red with the promise of 100 million pounds of investment? Them changing tack due to backlash but seeking further investment. Followed by changing back due to popular demand wanting the promised investment.

Or is it the purchase of a Championship winning squad? New training facilities? Settling Langstone debt? Stadium expansion? Further squad improvement making us competitive in the premiership? How about Tan's purchase of more and more shares fulfilling his promise of taking overall control of the club surely soon to change the debt to equity leaving us debt free? Further planned expansion of the stadium to come and a recent official statement giving Malky more influence over transfers despite a sketchy at best transfer record.

Yeah Tan has been awful. I much prefer the days of HMRC appearances every few weeks and selling our best players on the cheap.

We can continue to wear Blue and he can not take that from us. He owns the club his choice to make our team wear red but can't stop the fans wearing what they want.

Lies, lies and more lies. If there's no specific Tan Out agenda, you don't tolerate abuse or slogans of an abusive nature why do BU t-shirts have such slogans as:

"Don't have to sell my soul"

"My uzi waits for Tan"

"Tan Out"

"Jog on you Si"

You check out the hypocrisy here: http://www.onersigns.co.uk/bluebirds-unite/

From the start the message should have been 'Unite through the supporters trust' increasing our numbers in a group recognised by the club would have been far more beneficial imo.

I joined the trust myself when the rebrand was announced.

Tbf, Sven, it's one line from one poster. Personally, I'm pleased that BU have come out and clarified matters and it is encouraging to read that some posters who have previously been very critical of BU are making supportive noises that this statement is a step in the right direction.

It's a cliche but we do all need to stick together.

I hope BU do start canvassing opinion from the wider fanbase for thoughts on its future direction. It would be a really positive move, as far as I'm concerned

Wouldn't it be great to read that those who so vehemently demanded an official statement from BU that it had no " TAN OUT" agenda now request as vociferously a statement from Vincent Tan that he has no " MALKY OUT " objective ???! Yeah .... and pigs might !

Tbf, Sven he didn't actually group whole sections of Cardiff City's support, on this occasion. All he said was that "a few Tan apologists on here" will attempt to discredit the statement. Whilst, given the positive tone of this thread there was, imo, no need to write that but it is undeniable that there are a small number of people will apologise for everything that Tan does, in the same way that there are people that will find fault with everything that he does.

Anyway, we're getting bogged down in minutiae. A clarification statement was called for and that's what we got.

I certainly don't think BU deserved the vitriol that came it's way !

It's all well and good expecting BU issue the aforementioned statement of denial, for a viewpoint I'm not sure it advocated , but those who demanded that S of D might well benefit from looking in the mirror , before the accusation of hypocrisy is levelled .

There's a broad church under the CCFC banner and those who sling mud , from all sides , need examine their roles in this whole affair .

Only after the soul searching & realisation that all opinions are valid , if only to those who make them in certain cases , have we got any chance of going on and supporting the Bluebirds on a united front ,at this time when they most definitely need us ALL behind them !
