If Rudy goes/that will be 9 Cardiff City Players out on loan

Tue Nov 26, 2013 2:28 pm

If Rudy Gestede joins Blackburn before Thursday on loan, that means Cardiff City will have 9 players out on loan to clubs outside the Premier League, many will probably never play for us again if we stay in the Premier League, which shows the total difference in quality your squad needs to be once your in the Prem.

" The emergency transfer deadline closes this Thursday "

There are eight players currently out on loan from Cardiff: Joe Ralls (Yeovil), Kadeem Harris and Ben Nugent (Brentford), Kevin McNaughton (Bolton), Craig Conway (Brighton), Adedeji Oshilaja (Newport), Simon Lappin (Sheffield United) and goalkeeper Dave Richard (Bristol City).

Strange decision to keep hold of Kevin McNaugton, Conway and signing Lappin, none of those were ever going to be good enough for the Premiership

I thought exactly the same at the time, why give 2 of them new contracts, I was amazed.

If we do stay up I'd hope that Kadeem, Ralls and oshialaja would still have a place here

I thought Ralls was going to go all the way, hopefully he still does.

Ralls, neat little player, but not a PL player IMO. Watched him for Yeovil v Donny last Friday he didnt really stand out tbh.

I'd like to see Mason get a chance at Palace, then maybe send him out in January. Definitely going to be a Prem player in a few years. Just needs the experience and to bulk up a little bit

Rudy Loan deal confirmed

Tue Nov 26, 2013 5:54 pm

Its confirmed through Sky sports, Rudy has gone until January and possibly permanently

Blackburn have moved to bolster their striking options by signing Cardiff City forward Rudy Gestede on loan.

Gestede has switched to Ewood Park initially on loan until January with a view to a permanent deal.

Blackburn chief Gary Bowyer has been looking to bring in a new striker and he has now completed a swoop for the Benin international.

The Frenchman has found himself down the pecking order at Cardiff this season, making just five substitute appearances for the Bluebirds.

Cardiff boss Malky Mackay is happy to loan out Gestede as he does not figure in his long-term plans at the Cardiff City Stadium.

The new arrival is expected to go straight into the Blackburn squad for this weekend's clash with Leeds United.

Conway & Lappin were signed when we were in the Championship and not guaranteed Premier League football!

McNaughton was basically signed to provide cover, but since we managed to sign a class player in KTC, Kev has fallen further down the pecking order, so none of the signings were strange at the time, even though none of them appear to have any future at CCFC now!

They were given new contracts BEFORE we signed cover for their positions. McNaughton especially was back up right back until we signed KTC. (mind you, i'm not sure about Lappin)

Conway, Nugent, and Lappin should go in January.

The guy at Bristol is going on permanent.

I would put money on a few more going on gone by this time next season.

Infact its easier to pick those that remain from the championship:

Marshall
Whittingham
Turner

Thats it I reckon. Campbell will remain but he joined us very late in the championship so I don't count him.

Marshall, Gunnarson, Taylor, Cowie all gone.

Not true. We signed Brayford before Mcnaughton re-signed and considering Conolly was ahead of Kev anyway it was a stupid decision.

Can add smith and mason to the list to make it 11 players we could get shot of, though perhaps a little hardh to judge harris, oshilaja and ralls yet

Id send a few more out on loan, Mason looks like he is going.

Send Smith out, send Etien out, send Kiss out.

If they have a good month and a half Championship clubs will pay good money pushing for the premiership dream

Good way for youngstera to get game time, and for clubs to 'try before they buy.' Brayford and Kiss will go out next.

He is 25 though, it's not exactly young at that age if you haven't broken into a club that were one of the favourites for the drop... However, I do wish Rudy all the best but I doubt we will see him again playing for us in a competitive game

Yea I was speaking more generally when I said its a good way for youngsters to get game time. Don't know why, but I always think of Rudy being a lot younger than 25! He can do well at Championship level, if he can stay fit.

Oh right, fair enough :ayatollah:

I agree, he would do well for a team who like to cross the ball in often, I think he would be suited at Brighton more than Blackburn though especially as he has had abit of experience playing alongside Conway already...
