Cardiff City's French striker Rudy Gestede is ready to sign for Blackburn Rovers in a loan-to-buy bargain deal.

Gestede headed to Lancashire for a medical after manager Malky Mackay gave the go-ahead to the move as Rovers look for more strength up front.
The tall hit man has not figured in the Premier League after playing a role in the promotion campaign at Cardiff.
Mackay has let Gestede go on loan and the clubs have agreed a permanent transfer in the January window for a small sum - with the striker a free agent next summer.
Rovers chief Gary Bowyer has talked owners Venkys into more spending - with Gestede badly needed after a row with striker Leon Best.
Outspoken Best was dropped from the squad at the weekend following a row with a fan on social media and he has previously had words with Bowyer.

Really? I thought he'd be level with Maynard in the pecking order, not a huge amount between them.

I'd say Maynard is ahead of him in Malky's book, but I suppose it depends on whether you'd prefer Gestede's bigger aerial presence!

When Cornelius was injured, I would have personally preferred Gestede as a back up option, but now that Cornelius is fit, I believe that Gestede's time is nearly up with us!

It would be nice to see Gestede and Maynard go out on loan and get a really good run of games, I still dont know what Gestede is capable of and he's been here a couple of years

Maynard is dead money to us now to be honest, he will be going in the next two seasons as well. All we are going to get from him is the odd goal when comes on as a sub
