Tiki-taka or never say die

Mon Nov 25, 2013 7:14 pm

There was a great arguement in the pub Last night over what type of football fans prefer .
Would you rather tippy tappy keep ball and pretty triangle passes or a never say die battle for everything team ?

Personally I'm loving our style now ( I used to hate it ) but it makes you so proud seeing the heart and passion our boys put in week in week out I can't help but want more close last minute either side can win football

Tiki-taka is past it's sell- by-date. Traditional British football. Play it on the deck when appropriate, but nothing wrong with a long ball, crunching tackle, or a long throw. All part of our culture. Mix the play up a bit. Too many foreigners in English football. Some are OK, some are very good, some are like ChicoFlores!

This. There's a time for everything. A time to keep ball and a time to hoof it.

some interesting debate on the way to play football in the modern game . I disagree with what most have been saying tho

To me the so called tiki taka is the only way to play football at junior / youth level these days . Our kids are so far behind in terms of technical skill than most european countries it's untrue . technical intelligent players are the way forward and the pyshical side to the game will come naturally .
The last few years have seen size and power taken over most sports not just football but at last the UK has taken notice from there european counterparts and things are in place to change the way the kids will develop in the next few years

To be honest i find Tiki-Taka football very tedious and boring, and if you find a way to cancel it out like what Cardiff did to Swansea then they are screwed

I think you have to have the right balance between both, passing it around "tika-taka" is great for taking the sting out of a game when your under pressure or looking to draw a team out to make openings i suppose, but you also have to know how to play direct football. German football seems to have the right balance.. They don't over do either but mix it up well at the right time
