Cardiff's Chile midfielder Gary Medel will not face disciplinary action from the Football Association despite appearing to raise his hands towards Manchester United's Marouane Fellaini during Sunday's 2-2 draw.

The incident was not seen by the match officials and was reviewed by the FA's panel of former referees who decided that the incident was not worthy of a red card so no action would be taken.

United manager David Moyes said after the game that he was frustrated to see Medel escape punishment for appearing to strike Fellaini in the face.

The incident occurred in the build-up to Cardiff's stoppage-time equaliser when Peter Whittingham's free-kick was headed past David de Gea by Kim Bo-kyung.

Moyes said: "If he slaps someone in the face, then you'd expect some action to be taken.

"We actually lost our concentration because we were set up for the free-kick, the referee then spends a minute or so talking to everyone and then sets it back up."

City manager Malky Mackay also admitted that the Cardiff midfielder could have been dismissed for his actions.

When asked about Medel, Mackay told Sky Sports: "He could (have been sent off) but then I also look at Fellaini and doing what he does normally and putting his head on someone else's face, and that's for me a sending off.

"But overall I'm happy that both teams deserved to have 11 men on the pitch. They didn't deserve to have any men off and neither did we."

The FA panel took one look at Medel and thought...

"Bring that evil looking fucker to London before a disciplinary panel? Nah. f**k that."

Without trying to be to biased, you see scuffles all the time in the box before the corner/free kick is taken.

To be honest if Medel got punished for that while Rooney walks free that would have been a real kick in the teeth for Cardiff City, there would have been a big shit storm about it

We got away with this one, it was more than just pushing in the box he openly struck Fellaini. I think it was worse than Rooneys kick out. Very lucky the FA haven't deemed that to be a punishable offence.

That being said if we took that out of pitbulls game he wouldn't be half the player he is so keep up the good work Gary.

No mention of Fellaini elbowing him though

I think the ref knew he should've sent Rooney off, so Gary got lucky too!

Hardly an elbow, games gone soft if you can't do that. Medel struck him, take the blinkers off.

It happens in basically the majority of games in every league on the weekend, just this one was spotted by the referee.
