Time and again the Bluebirds faithful made clear their feelings about persistent rumours Tan may be considering dispensing with Mackay..
The Scot watched his side claim another precious Premier League point by holding the champions Manchester United to a 2-2 draw
Cardiff City fans used the clash with Manchester United to send a warning to owner Vincent Tan not to dare dismiss manager Malky Mackay.
The Scot watched his side claim another precious Premier League point by holding the champions to a 2-2 draw courtesy of a first-half Fraizer Campbell strike and a dramatic injury-time equaliser from substitute Kim Bo-Kyung.
But time and again the Bluebirds faithful made clear their feelings about persistent rumours Tan may be considering dispensing with Mackay..
To the tune of Achy Breaky Heart by Billy Ray Cyrus, City fans chanted: “Don’t sack Mackay, Malky Mackay, we just don’t think you understand. And if you sack Mackay, Malky Mackay, you might have a riot on your hands!”
The result will only have bolstered support for the manager, but the encounter was not without controversy, with Wayne Rooney appearing to kick Jordon Mutch in the opening exchanges and pick up a yellow card many observers felt should have been red.
Malky Mackay was delighted with the result
City midfielder Gary Medel was also involved in an altercation with Marouane Fellaini late on, in which he was accused of striking the Belgian.
On the Rooney incident, Mackay said: “I have looked at it again and some referees might send him off, but I thought overall (referee) Neil Swarbrick had a good game and I think he handled it well. I think it was two teams who were tough and committed and there were some tasty challenges throughout the whole game. But I think his handling of the game was reasonably good.”
The Scot also backed Swarbrick’s handling of Medel’s confrontation with Fellaini. He said: “Well, he (Medel) is 5ft 7in and Fellaini is 6ft 7in so he is up to his belly button!
“So his arm just about reached his shoulder and then Fellaini has his head down in his face again so I think overall looking at it the referee got it right on both counts.”

Anybody realised how the 'persistent rumours' are constantly circulated by certain sections of the crowd who have a certain grudge to bear?
Hate the Malky song! chants should be about getting behind the team, not making a point to the owner!
