David Moyes will not risk the Serbia defender, who suffered concussion against Arsenal a fortnight ago, while the Dutch striker is also set to miss the trip to Cardiff

Manchester United have been dealt a double injury blow with both Robin van Persie and Nemanja Vidic set to miss Sunday’s Premier League clash with Cardiff City, Goal can reveal.

Vidic, who suffered concussion during the victory over Arsenal at Old Trafford a fortnight ago, trained with the first team on Saturday, as he had done all week, but will not be risked by David Moyes ahead of Wednesday’s testing Champions League visit to Leverkusen.

Van Persie, meanwhile, withdrew from the Holland squad ahead of last week’s friendlies against Japan and Colombia, suffering with a combination of toe and groin injuries.

The former Arsenal striker was absent from United’s Carrington training complex on Saturday and did not travel with the rest of his team-mates who flew to the Welsh capital on Saturday evening.

The Premier League champions will also be without Phil Jones, who suffered a groin strain against Arsenal that subsequently ruled him out of England’s friendly defeats against Chile and Germany, while Michael Carrick is likely to miss the next six weeks with an Achilles injury.

Youngsters Will and Michael Keane, who between them have made just one Premier League appearance for the club, have been added to the matchday squad ahead of United’s first ever trip to the Cardiff City Stadium.

Good news if true, but what about this?

@ManUtd: Robin's also hit the woodwork more than anyone else (19 times) in the same period. Will RvP find the net today? #mufc http://t.co/UwuUh315sa

Big plus if RVP is out. They look very vulnerable without him, hes been the difference many a time this season.
