Do we really need another striker?

Apparently City are going in for Hugo Vieira in the new year.

I don't know who he is, either.

Personally, I don't think we need another striker. We play one up front, and already have Campbell, Maynard and Odemwingie slugging it out. Plus, we have Cornelius to come in, and Velikonja and Mason sitting around twiddling their thumbs.

I think we do need to be a bit more adventurous and creative, but maybe by changing the tactics and system, rather than the playing personnel.

I was just wondering what other people's thoughts were on the matter?

My new book, From the Ashes: The REAL Story of Cardiff City FC, is out now:

If the players we have aren't scoring then malky will get someone who can.And hopefully Cornelius can make an impact when he comes back

Its hard to say ...we have not seen cornelius........we are playing one up front every week......we have struggled to get good service to our forwards.I think by the 2nd week of January we will know where we we are.......we may have to start chasing more points and our tactics may change...........i dont care wheather they play him upfront or on the wing, but i do feel we need some more pace in the side...........and a striker who can hold the ball up and offer a threat from crosses. We have done well up to now, we are averaging a point a game and that may keep us up, but when we play the sides around us at home i feel we have to attack more, especially in the first half and put the pressure on them. :ayatollah:

Very true, Denzil! I'd like to see us going at the so-called weaker teams more, especially at home. The obvious danger with playing the same formation every game is that it gets predictable, and other teams will figure out the best way to play us. I'd like to see Mason, Noone and even Maynard play more. Maynard has come off the bench a couple of times, but I think if he was given more playing time he has all the right attributes.

I'd agree that our playing style isn't helping the strikers we've got at the moment; whoever plays up front for us at present is feeding off scraps... On that basis, I don't think we need another striker either.
