TBF though they gave Liverpool the title of European city of culture in 2008, i think the title of the these awards is a joke, they just use the word culture instead of shit.

i wanted swansea to win it. i know we have a football rivalry, but for wales in general, its always Good to see our towns and cities getting investment and winning awards. i dont know what "capital city of culture" means, but im sure it would have been a big bonus for that part of wales and not just swansea.

Apparently Derry - Londonderry say they had an additional 600k visitors when they won it so of course it is not a bad thing for the local economy. Besides, perhaps Cardiff also loses out slightly here as if extra visitors would be going to Swansea it would be logical that some of those would stop off at the capital. They can always approach the author of crap towns with a bid to be no 1 in the next release

The city of culture award goes to shitholes to help improve the city. I think Hull City's Council will be getting money for improvements.

Neath Port Talbot would have had f**k all benefit from this Swansea 'Bay' bid hence I'm glad they didn't get it.

It shows how shit their bid was having to call it Swansea Bay and not Swansea. By the way, how do I travel to Swansea Bay, is there a train that I can catch there, thought not it doesn't even exist.

BBC Wales news previewed the vote yesterday and pointed out that Derry had about 55 million pounds of money through visitors etc.They also said than Swansea Bay had spent £ 10,000 in trying to get the gig in their patch,says it all doesn't it.

Hmmm? I'm debating with myself here whether your some 'old head' who can't grasp the fact that these days Neath is very much jack territory in the main, or just some mixed up kid. Either way listen in , Neath and Port Talbot did indeed used to be Blue. Now it's not. You are well outnumbered in both areas and the divide is getting bigger as you oldies drift away.
