Sif and Volstag are storing the Aether but do not want to store it in Asgard where the Cosmic cube is being held.

cut to the scene after they leave, the Collector says "One down,five to go".

The Aether and the Cosmic cube are infinity stones.
(in thor 1,when the ice giants attempt to steal the cosmic cube,theres a scene where you see the infinity Gauntlet)

if the 6 infinty stones are joined with the gauntlet the possessor will control time,space etc etc...
in the comics this was a massive arc and Thanos (end credits of Avengers) achieved this.

So thats where Disney/marvel are heading.

2014 we will see The Guardians of the galaxy..
quick synopsis...

Based in Future-
US pilot Peter Quill (STAR LORD) somehow gets stranded in space and embroiled in a middle of universal conflict. he unites with a group of convicts who are being pursued by many because of item in there possession (Infinity Gauntlet) .
Gamora,Drax the Destroyer,Groot and Rocket Racoon.

They Become the GOTG, Basically the Avengers in Space.

This Movie will surprise many skeptics.


We will also see Captain America The Winter Soldier

Both Movies will feature other Avengers...Black widow Hawkeye and fury will be in Cap2.
As for GOTG,recent comics and animated shows have introduced this character and the toy listings for GOTG
have Ironman amongst them.


Both Movies in 2014 will introduce other infinity stones .

then Avengers 2 in 2015.

For some reason I have got really board with the Marvel films since Avengers was released. Iron Man 3 was shocking and they all just seem like the same thing over and over again.

I did really enjoy The Dark Knight films and the new super man one, I will look forward to the new Avengers film. Most of all I can't wait for the Star Wars films.

AJ, without spoiling it for others, does the scene after the end credits point to a return to the big screen for a certain character or was it just a joke put in by the writers?

Was GOTG actually set in the present day?

James Gunn and Kevin Figie have both said in a recent interview that the HTD was sheer comedy values and nothing more.
It was sort of paying homage to the actual character rather than introducing him.

The Collector has a whole host of things in his possession, ( so it makes sense that he has been collected) and that was not the only keep he has.
Granted it's now broken thanks to his servant *Spoilers* but you can be guaranteed the important stuff (like what was seen in the end of Thor 2 ) is in a more secure keep.

There were certain objects in this movie that will have a role further in the franchise, the Dark elf that was sleeping in one of the cages, and the big cocoon that was directly behind the Collector when the guardians arrived.
(#AW!!! )

This is set in the same time zone as the other movies,Age of Ultron is expected to be set around 6 months after this film.

James Gunn also stated that Starlords Father will feature in future movies but is not J'son of Spartaxx as it is in Comics.

Some one has also said that a Xenomorph was in the his keep, but I haven't seen it and highly doubt it considering that's Fox property and not Disney/Marvel.

My missus loves the Marvel universe, I watch with her and see them as entertaining but I'm not a fan.

However, GOTG was fantastic entertainment. The humour and music just added to it. "They got my dick message"

But what was the use of Vin Diesel???? I can understand Bradley Cooper getting a credit but Vin doesn't speak and hi physical body is obviously CGI. I assume he just walked around in a green suit being a point of focus.

Whilst the most obvious answer would be "I am Groot" he was all motion capture and vocals.
It also allows him to play another role in the cinematic universe.
Look at Paul Bettany playing or voicing Jarvis (Starks AI).
And He is now the Vision.
I loved Groot especially the Rage and Grin scene.
