Had my dog Bartley put down tonight. Amazing how a little dog can make such an impact on your life.
Absolutely gutted. RIP my boy

Sorry to hear that Gareth.
As a dog lover and owner myself I've been through it and completely empathise.
Thoughts with you and your family as if you're like me, your dog was part of the family.

Really sorry to hear that Gareth, having been through that I understand how you feel. My advice (unlike others may say) is to get another dog as soon as possible. Get a rescue dog mate.

Sorry to hear it, must be very tough.
I think I'm going to have to go through the same thing soon (for the same reason). I'm dreading it.

People may laugh at me Gareth but this forum below it helps.
I lost my retriever at two and a half, he drowned and I didn't go for the Saturday morning walk with him and my girlfriend that day if I had he would still be here today...I have never forgiven myself. They light a candle for him and his name will be on the list....as I said people may laugh at me but unless you have a dog who is sadly taken from you they do not know how painful it is......The forum helped me anyway.

Hi Gareth,
Sorry to hear about the dog, Bartley. It's like losing an extended member of the family, so I can understand the depth of your loss

I never really liked cats, but my Mrs got a Bengal andI I have to say that when he passes I will be inconsolable for quite a while

Had my first dog two months ago. I love him, my wife does and our 3 kids. He's made a huge difference, which has taken me by surprise - I honestly didn't expect him to have such an impact - so I can understand where you're coming from, Gareth.
Take a leaf out of my mate's book and just get a puppy as soon as possible.
All the best, mate.

Sorry dude, I know what it's like to lose a best friend. It's never easy

Thanks lads.
I'm not a hard man neither am I a softy but I cried like a bloody baby when he went. He was a great mate and I've so many happy memories of him. When my mrs was in hospital with my youngest who was in intensive care and my others were away with my parents he really was there for me.
I just wish that something could have been done.
Gutted.

It's a horrible thing to have to do; I've had to experience this twice in the last 8 years or so with two lovely dogs. I don't mind admitting the tears flowed readily on both occasions...

Gareth as you know mate I had to do the same a few weeks ago and we were absolutely heartbroken, I still miss her terribly and having to make the decision to put your dog to sleep is the hardest thing I have had to do and the feeling of guilt us still with me.
I really feel for you and your family Gareth.
RIP Bartley.

Sorry to hear that Gareth. Never nice losing a dog, I myself had to do a similar thing to my sheepdog years ago.
Although I hope you dont mind me saying, your dog has an amazing likeness to the Nickleback singer Chad Kroeger.

Cheers Carl.
Really hit home tonight as I had to take my daughter out to babysit for a friend. Normally Bartley would have come with me. That walk home was horrible.

His hair was fairly unique. I often compared him to Robbie Savage even if his football skills were more lily savage.
