Malky Mackay ‘becomes latest manager to reject Crystal Palace vacancy’
By Metro Sport Reporter Friday 15 Nov 2013

Malky Mackay is believed to have been approached by Crystal Palace.

Malky Mackay has reportedly become the latest manager to reject the vacancy at Crystal Palace.

The Cardiff boss is said to have been approached by the Eagles, who parted company with Ian Holloway more than three weeks ago, following their signing of Mackay’s former head of recruitment Iain Moody.

But a source close to the 41-year-old insists he didn’t have to think twice about his decision.

‘Malky is chuffed that Iain [Moody] has found another post but he won’t be going with him to Palace,’ the source said.

‘He was contacted by representatives working for Palace but told them straight away he wasn’t interested.

‘He just wants to stay at Cardiff and finish what he has started. That means keeping Cardiff in the Premier League.’

CLUB METRO: Why so many setbacks in Palace’s manager search?

Ian Holloway left Crystal Palace at the end of last month

Having guided Cardiff to the Premier League, Mackay’s side currently sit 14th in the table, with 12 points from their opening 11 matches.

Palace, meanwhile, are rock bottom of the Premier League with just one win and a draw this season, as their search for a successor to Holloway continues.

The south London side have already been linked with the likes of Tony Pulis, Aitor Karanka – who has since joined Middlesbrough – and Chris Coleman, who yesterday signed a new contract with Wales.

For him to reject them would mean the Club allowed him the opportunity to speak to them....

How does the saying go?

Exactly. And if the club did give him permission he would have gone. Bollocks story.

Almost certainly IF Malky was approached (on or off the record) he has quite obviously said it's a non-starter and it doesn't automatically follow that the club (quote) "Gave him permission" :?

A 'tentative' question can often be rebuked and someone "in the link" appears to have mentioned it to one of those mysterious 'sources' that we continually hear about, so it becomes yet another Sky Sports News 'Exclusive' ;)

:laughing6: Don't be so defensive! I said that it was a bollocks story as if Cardiff had given him permission to talk to Palace, then he clearly would have gone as he would have felt unwanted. So they obviously didn't give him permission so it's a bollocks story! Don't get your knickers in a twist because I'm a jack! Read and digest before you reply son. Read and digest! :thumbright:
