Bluebirds Unite – time to say what we really think?
November 12, 2013

by cardiffcolin

I’m a staunch BU supporter but am a bit out of the loop as far BU stuff goes (living in Bristol prevents me getting to most BU events other than those immediately before/after matches). I’m not in on whatever committee discussions or pub talks say at the moment as all I can tune in to are electronic messages – so apologies to anyone that I’m misrepresenting in what follows or to anyone that is already promoting the line I’m suggesting.

However, it seems to me that we’ve reached a crucial point in the current campaign. I could understand why BU decided on a strictly polite, no-anti-Tan line at the outset. I wasn’t in favour of it myself: coming from an Against Modern Football perspective, I couldn’t see any way in which we weren’t a prime example of a club being used as a rich man’s plaything and a financial investment. To my mind, Tan was never going to see us as anything else and would always do whatever suited him, whether we were polite to him or not. But I agreed to go along with it on the basis that reaching out to him seemed worth a try in most people’s eyes.

The evidence of the past few weeks provides overwhelming evidence that there is absolutely no point in trying to meet Tan halfway or expect him to make any sort of compromise,. Moreover, he clearly views any opposition to him with contempt and has no intention of negotiating or listening to arguments (“Always be red – ha, ha, ha!”).

His recent actions have produced a tide of revulsion amongst ordinary, non-campaigning fans (even, I suspect, amongst the club’s players and staff). Surely now is the moment for BU to seize? Let’s not fall into the trap that The Trust did at the start of the re-brand, resorting to polls and lowest-common denominator policies which ended up pleasing no-one. Let’s take up a clearly principled position and let people choose whether or not they wish to support it.

BU should declare itself determined to restore control of the club to those with the true interests of the club at heart, those who respect the club’s history, those who recognize the vital role of fans in determining the future direction of the club. This means, without equivocation, the end of Tan’s control of the club.

All the arguments put forward by Pro- or reluctant-reds up till now have relied on the false assumption that financial ruin awaits without him. Maybe it does, though there are many who now think that’s doubtful, for all sorts of reasons. But there is now a critical mass of fans thinking that there’s more to following a club than success or mere survival at any price. Better to die on our feet than live on our knees! Time to declare all-out opposition to Tan and campaign for a club that can reclaim it’s soul.

Step one: a BU Tan Out banner on the march on the 24th before the Man U game.

Step two: open BU support for the sit-in after that match.

Up to now, it seems to me that this is what we’ve been thinking quietly. Time now to say loud and proud what we really think! TAN OUT!

Bluebirds Unite need to stick to what they are doing well. That is campaigning for blue. Individuals can do what they want.

What I'd like to see is more and more people throwing their hat in with Bluebirds Unite and realising that they are campaigning for something we should ALL hold dear. Put aside petty differences and sdacrifice them for a return to our proper CCFC identity.

Hopefully B.U will go from strength to strength and get more and more support and then if we do start playing in Cardiff City colours again, you will all know that you contributed towards that.

How the hell are you going to kick a man out of a club he owns? :laughing6:

Do you not realise you me and the BU are insignificant ?

I thought bu was about getting the colours back ? It all good saying tan out by some members Like Bluebird37 but how do they think we can pay our bills and continue in the short term without tans money ?

Well, theoretically it could be possible to run of the Sky money, sponsorship and hate receipts.

If the fans had the money to buy out tan obviously.

Sky Money gets paid in stages ,that's why Swansea last season had to get a loan for short term cash flow issues they had ,tan is still bank rolling us and I can't see any bank giving us a loan after our track record ,bu is a great idea about getting the colour back etc but to change there stance to tan out ,they have to suggest a alternative which to date no one has

Quite possibly, or a thousand other things could happen.
Best scenario I can see, is let Tan make us successful and let him sell us.
Perhaps, and I say again, perhaps, the next owners will be more sympathetic. 8-)

Forget the tan out stuff because he could do a lot more damage before he moves on,just stick to blue back.

^^^^^ THIS

They have changed their stance for the worse IMO.

They telling Tan to keep his nose out of football matters yet are doing just that themselves, all the whilst saying they dont care what league we are in its not about the football??

All a bit confusing and definitely mixed messages.

Stick to campaigning for the blue back.

thousands of fans in blue will send out a message, and the message will be picked up on by the media........a few Tan out banners turns that message into a joke.
ideal world.i think the vast majority of our fans would love to have a new owner, but having a new owner is all about Tan being bought out.
i cant get my head around the thinking.TAN OUT.its not down to a vote

FFS Bluebird 37, you may agree with me or may disagree with me - have a discussion and that's fine by me.

I do object, however, when you lift an article, word for word, from my blog ( http://cardiffcolinsworld.wordpress.com ... lly-think/ ) and claim it as your own. A bit more honesty, please.

time to say what we really think? .... the time to say it was at the beginning when the rebrand started now in the 2nd year of the rebrand it wont a make difference in the slightest, I agree with wearing blue to games and flood out the red but BU doing sit ins and trying to force tan out will not make one bit of difference, always wear blue and it might sink in but in all honesty the time to do it all has gone for protests making a stand etc, I don't care if people want to wear red or blue but to get message across needs to be done in a peaceful way, BU need to stop the tan out bullshit aswell without him we wouldn't be on the verge of debt free getting the stadium increased getting a new state the art training ground he has done a lot of good for us but most forget things like these because he changed the colour and badge and I get it I really do and I can understand why fans cant look past it but they need to realise tan has been good and bad for us, all we know in future tan will revert back after hes made a few a bob but don't force out a guy who feeds us, wear blue at every game sing the same songs still get bluebirds chanting we know who we are and who we will always be
