"Make your mind up time?" (Caulker)

Wed Nov 13, 2013 2:45 pm

So Scotland have asked Steven Caulker to let them know now if he wants to play for them and tie himself up for good as a Scottish player.

What would you do?Personally Caulker in my opinion can afford to wait another year, Scotland are going no where for a long time.

Scotland and strachan must be smoking something up there ,there is no way he will switch to them ,its not like he's never got near the English set up,he's a good young player and has a good rep with the media who push for him to be in the squads, with the way he is playing this year for us I see him getting in the world cup squad,if he doesn't it wont be long till he's a regular ....dream on scotland

Lets be honest, when was the last time England were going places?
Not what they used to be by a long way. ;)

Caulker would be crazy to play for the Scots he has a future in the England squad.

I'd agree with Annis - give it another year; he's unlikely to break into the World Cup squad for England just yet (unless they get a raft of injuries in the Spring) and there's no rush to make a decision just yet.

Caulker would be mad to give up a potential England career for Scotland.

He's English and should play for England.

Stick with England he potentially misses next years finals but theres another in 2 years time.

Opt for Scotland and he opts out of finals for rest of his career.

He is English so should play for England.

I think a injury or loss of form of a player and he had a good chance for the world cup, certainly wouldn't rule him out.

Bang on the money, yet I get slated by Welsh people who disagree with this.

He's 5th choice centre back at the moment which is brilliant for his age.

In fact I wouldn;t be surprised that if he was called up he'd play before Smalling or Jones because CB is his definite position. Those two are there more for utility than actual belief they'll play.

This where you were born is where you are from attitude really annoys me.

I was born in Bristol to two Welsh parents, moved back to Wales at 6 months old, was educated in Wales and am a Welsh speaker...

But if I was good enough to play international football in your eyes I still shouldnt play for Wales and should play for England?

Caulkers never lived in Scotland. Why should he play for them?

It was only a friendly game, so does not count

What a stupid rule that is! So he is classed as having a cap for England but can play for Scotland...

Love how people comment on Caulker being from England and should play for England yet when it's Wales different story.

He's good enough to play for England, Ash wasn't at the time he was picked for Wales.

I'm Welsh, if England wanted me to play for them I would tell them to f*** off!
