Chelsea still paying Di Matteo £130,000 a week despite sacking manager last year

Roberto Di Matteo is still being paid £130,000 a week by Chelsea despite being sacked 12 months ago.

The Italian was unable to reach a settlement with owner Roman Abramovich on his three-year deal when he was fired six months after winning the Champions League as interim boss.
Di Matteo has already banked almost £7million and will continue to pick up the king-sized salary until June 2014, meaning he is reluctant to take on another job for less money.

Winning feeling: Roberto Di Matteo was sacked by Chelsea despite winning the Champions League
After winning European football's premier trophy and the FA Cup, Di Matteo was given the job on a permanent basis but was soon replaced with Rafa Benitez who in turn made way for Jose Mourinho at the end of last season.
Fulham are the latest club to show an interest in the 43-year-old as the pressure mounts on beleaguered boss Martin Jol.
The Dutchman is fighting to keep his job after a difficult start to the season, but looks set to survive until at least Fulham's clash against Swansea after international break.

Under pressure: Martin Jol is struggling at the helm of Fulham after a difficult start to the season
Meanwhile, Brazil midfielder Ramires is confident Chelsea can 'win it all' under Mourinho this season.
The Blues battled to a 2-2 draw against West Brom at Stamford Bridge on Saturday, but only after a controversial penalty deep into stoppage-time awarded by referee Andre Marriner when Ramires went down in the box following a shoulder challenge from Steven Reid.
Following Arsenal's defeat at Manchester United on Sunday, Chelsea are now just four points off the Barclays Premier League summit and have also recovered from a slow start to top their Champions League group.
Ramires feels Mourinho's squad can continue to grow in the months ahead.
Fans hoped Di Matteo would manage Sunderland earlier this year

Controversial: Ramires won a late penalty against West Brom to earn Chelsea a point
'The Premier League is one of the toughest competitions in the world, but we have the means to win,' Ramires told Brazilian website http://www.sambafoot.com.
'Our team is very strong and we can win it all this season.
'Winning the Champions League (with Chelsea in 2012) was one of the greatest moments of my career.
'I think the only title that can compete with that is the World Cup in Brazil.'

Di Matteo must laugh at all the so called big names who came to Chelsea and try to win the Champions League.

Di Matteo won the CL with a team assembled by someone else. All he did was bring some harmony to the squad.

I'd rather stick with the inexperienced manager we have, who has built his own team, growing and learning as he progresses than go for one that coached someone else's team for six months, and who has a poor record in the PL with promoted sides.

Not to mention his willingness to continue to accept 130k a week from Chelsea, when he should get off his arse and prove people wrong by taking a job.

No ta.

Would you willingly get rid of 130,000 a week just to take a lower amount just to prove yourself?

Silly

He's hardly going to be on the bread line if takes a job and fails at it.
