HULL CHAIRMAN TO GO AHEAD WITH NAME CHANGE

Mon Nov 11, 2013 8:41 pm

Hull city chairman today says he will go ahead with name change to hull tigers .

' Hull City chairman confirms name change plan '

Hull City chairman Assem Allam has confirmed his long-term intention to re-name the club Hull Tigers.
The Egypt-born businessman announced in August that the club would be changing its name from Hull City AFC to Hull City Tigers.
Any references to AFC on club branding are being phased out, but currently remain on the shirt crest.

And Allam wants to shorten the name further by dropping City from the Premier League club's name.

' Hull history '

Formed in 1904, they first wore black and amber shirts for their maiden Football League campaign the following year. They moved to their KC Stadium home, which they share with Super League side Hull FC, in 2002, after 56 years at Boothferry Park.

Steve Bruce's side, who were promoted back to the Premier League in May, are currently 12th in the top-flight.
Allam said in a statement on the club website: "Having been deprived of opportunities to acquire the stadium freehold, which would have enabled us to create the infrastructure in the surrounding area, we will now need to focus on generating commercial income from elsewhere.
"A shorter club name will hopefully enable us to do so, with a stronger, quicker marketing impact all over the world."
A decision on further shortening the club's name to simply Hull Tigers is expected to be made early next year.

Joking aside, as CCFC fans you can't allow this to happen. That clown has made you a laughing stock of british football, changing from blue to red and the badge and I wouldn't be surprised if a name change is next.
The only way to beat him is voting with your feet, and when he sees LEGOLAND half empty, he might come to his senses, and revert back to what every ccfc supporter who has followed them for years wants! Playing in blue at home, with the bluebirds crest on the shirt

I've got to agree with you baked, but perhaps it's just a little bit too late now? I just feel sorry for the 3000 or so who went to NP when you were in the old fourth division and still travelled away in good numbers.

As other posters on this thread have said, and I agree having paid a lot of money for their season tickets, would I go, probably NOT but when you've got a son / grandson who doesn't know the score, you've got to, and if you didn't go there's plenty of people who will take your place. SAD BUT TRUE

Stadium will be filled by fans who haven't been following for years

That's the big problem right there eh?

"Cardiff Fans you can't let this happen"

What can they/we do to stop him?

Protest/March/Revolt...Abandon?

Colours Change regularly,The Name contains the true identity and history of the club.

Cardiff City Loyal.

As long as this Club is Called Cardiff City it will continue to receive my unyielding support.

Very bad news this. Feel sorry for Hull fans. What I call a proper club and have really come back from the brink. This is only likely to encourage our idiot of a chairman.

As for the above, unfortunately Jon, I can't see Tan going there. - More likely Cardiff Dwagons !. Much more powerful creature etc etc more crazy ramblings etc etc

Agreed, I support Cardiff City FC, no one else. (Like west ham cause my father likes them).

I'd only accept a name change if we went bust and the FA allowed us back in the leagues.
