Crystal Palace Football Club are delighted to announce that Iain Moody has joined the club as Sporting Director.

Moody worked alongside current Cardiff City manager Malky Mackay at Watford before moving to south Wales with him in June 2011.

He has degrees in French and Italian and worked as a UEFA-appointed interpreter for the Italian national team during Euro 96.

Moody has worked in Paris, Brussels and Florence and joined Watford initially in the communications department before moving into the role of Football Operations Manager.

Eagles Chairman Steve Parish said: “I have great pleasure in welcoming Iain to the club. The role of Sporting Director will cover all areas of player recruitment and contract management and is an important building block as we move the club forward.”

Moody is delighted to be joining Palace, saying: “'I am very excited by the opportunity I have been offered and would like to thank the club for their faith in me.

“The club has made impressive progress since 2010 and I look forward to playing my part in helping ensure their continued success. I can't wait to get started.”

I definitely remember seeing a thread about him joining Derby. Has he left them so quickly or did he not go there or did I dream that thread ?

That's what I thought?.? I wonder what happened there? I'm not being funny, but I know that Moody has been hailed as a brilliant and extremely knowledgable person, but firstly going to average Derby and now onto struggling Palace is hardly a huge endorsement of his talents.
I would have thought that Palace should be filling the managers position first, rather than appointing a Director of Football?

I've heard they are bringing in an ex Real Madrid coach, who probably knows little about the Premiership, so would probably explain the Director of Football position
