The Protest Front

Sat Nov 09, 2013 1:48 am

Alright guys, I've just moved to Cardiff so I'm not familiar with the laws here; but why haven't the protests against Tan been more than a handful of crappy stickers placed all over town and a some chants/banners at the games? I mean, if I really wanted to send a message of revolt against a sports club owner I'd want to hit them where it hurts which is obviously the wallet. Anything that would cost Tan money should be the main objective until he submits or at least has to bargain with us. Why not set up a mass protest where we all don't turn up to games and instead go to local pubs (Prince of Wales, etc) and support the locals rather than some Malaysian f**k with a big wallet? This works all the times in the States when a dodgy owner starts kicking off. Yeah; it sucks dick not going to the games when you've got tickets or season tickets. But what sucks an even bigger dick is turning up to the games and looking at the mickey mouse club he's turning it in to & knowing he's winning just by you turning up.

I say we all bite the bullet and try out the following "Lock Out" methods that usually work in the States
1: Don't turn up for home games, but instead go to local pubs or go to the stadium and hold protests outside. Maybe even tailgate. (In the states people who can't afford to go to the games tailgate; which is where you cook food and watch the game in the parking lot on a big TV set up on someone's car) But whatever we do we keep those stands empty.

2: Attend all the away games in full force, completely decked out in all blue, & hold up signs of protest (Tan out, Supporters not customers, etc)

In the States mostly other teams will get involved in the protests, even rivals but I don't imagine that really happening from the jack scum so maybe spread the word of the protests on other clubs message boards to try and get further help such as them holding up anti-modern football signs or "Keep Cardiff Blue" signs.

I don't know; I'm just spitballing ideas here trying to fuel the movement because at the moment; absolutely no progress is being made other than the waistline of Tan's pants getting higher. But I don't want to get anyone in to legal trouble as I'm American and not familiar with laws here.

Hey some of those are mine

Cool ideas, but I can't see the masses being convinced. The winters here are a bit grim and not many people will want to stand around in the CCS car park.

So you're American and decided to come to the UK. You really didn't think this through did you? I hope you brought a nice big North Face 3 layered coat with you.

People have suggested that before, but when you think about it, it will never work. There will always be fans ready to replace fans who boycott and that will always be the case whilst we're in the Premier League. The only way your suggestion could be successful is if we weren't in the Premier League but that's not down to us, so it's a bit pointless really.

We just need to carry on what we're doing and hope that more people will join in with the 'protests', whether that's by boycotting the red merchandise, wearing blue, chanting blue related songs, you get the drift. It's all down to consistency. "We'll always be blue" ringing around the stadium against Swansea shows that there are enough people who still care about this, we just need more people to jump on board.

It could work if season ticket holders did, this would still require paying for your ticket and leaving your seat empty but there is nothing worse than an empty stadium.

However that would require a huge amount of organisation and trust in people to take part.

Great idea, very original and novel, why not try it for the Man U and Arsenal games, and if you want to I'll look after your season and match tickets to make sure no one else uses them. ;)

that would be great Gwyn lol

just stating its not impossible and the argument of there are always fans ready to replace you at the next game are not applicable to season ticket holders

The majority of fans want tan to stay and don't really care what colour we play in that's why fans dont boycott games.

All the op's ideas were suggested at the very start by the KCB at the first meeting in the Ninian but all the snotty nosed sell outs thought it was too radical.I think you will find the KCB had the right ideas but everyone was too scared to boycott the Huddersfield game, now it's too late and the face of the club is changing rapidly due to a lack of initial action,Tan has won so get over it.While we are on the subject can you give us some examples and footage of where your boycotts in the US of A worked please.

I think maintaining the growing visual display of blue at games (as well as pro blue songs) is the best form of defiance. Judging by the earlier games, there seems to be a lot of people leaving their red at home. I know tan doesn't care what people think so there's no need to again point this out, but the prem is a worldwide visual spectacle and his ego will struggle with the fact he can't sell his vision, even to newcomers like our American friend :ayatollah:
