Jacks In Europe Tonight

Thu Nov 07, 2013 7:54 pm

Just watched this early evening game and think it's worth commenting on their performance:

1. Jacks looked pretty jaded after Sunday's war.
2. Needed to win - failed = more pressure on their performances in the EPL and Europe.
3. Goal by Bony but overall he had poor touch and laziness.
4. Still can't understand why Laudrup played Michu on Sunday knowing before the game that he was carrying an injury. Poor management and/or poor med staff. All suggests management control weakness.
4. Post match interview with Laudrup showed he was starting to look worried and on the edge. He needs results and quick.
5. Their squad will get more and more stretched over the next few weeks. Long may their Europa season reign!
6. No positives at all - they are in the shit!

Certainly potential relegation candidates given their EPL football credentials to date and their fixture schedule.

Watching them tonight suggests that it would be good for us to finish mid table this season but NOT get Europa League status. Or will the Paymaster strengthen the squad significantly in Jan to cope with Europe next year? Just hope that the Paymaster realises how football works and how good a manager and MD he has got.... or else we're f**ked along with the Jacks!

Glad we can just look forward to Villa on Sat tbh without the Europe schedule to worry about.

All of Bony's goals are on a plate for him. He never creates a goal himself. They are just put on a plate for him inside the box and he just hits it in. Any striker should be able to do that and unless he's fed he becomes nothing more than a waste as he doesn't chase down, his running into the channels is not brilliant, etc. Van Nistelrooy was similar. The difference is Van Nistelrooy had class around him who would create a lot of chances per game and he'd be burying goals in for fun. Bony doesn't have class around him and although he's clinical he is most certainly lacking in other areas.

1 Sunday was not a war, it may have been for you, but not us. We simply played very badly. ;)
2 Why did we 'need' to win? You say this as though we are struggling to qualify? We are not. :D
3 Yes you are correct. Bony scored. I'll give you that one. Good goal don't you think? :thumbright:
4 Laudrup seemed his normal self! Was he sweating and agitated? You make it sound as though he couldn't wait to get away and have a valium! Seriously! :laughing6:
5 Yes our squad is stretched. But we always knew it would be. And I agree, long may our Europa league campaign continue. I'm sure you will agree that the ultimate goal is simply too aspire to be the best you can be. Otherwise being a player or fan is utterly pointless. :?
6 Of course you would say there are no positives. I wouldn't expect anything else from an utterly clueless tw*t as yourself!

I'll refrain from commenting on the paragraph underneath the points you raised as well......... Oh well, lets just say it's best left where it is!

Tidy message from 64JACK.

Good luck you jack barstwards in Europe.

The sooner that our fellow Welsh folk realise that is not some form of tribal, village idiot left wing moronic shite, they may actually see? I personally don't give two shits or four burkas what you JB's do, you are as irrelevant to me as we are to you. As old school Cardiff our rivals were the Bristol Clubs, silly monkeys they were but they've gone now.

Didn't say you were which is why Bony is useless in your system in the Premier League. You'd be better off with a hard working forward who gets involved elsewhere like Graham. All you needed was someone with Graham's work rate but better overall in terms of ability.

My honest opinions?

The Jacks will qualify for the next round, but reckon they'll go out in the last 16.

Their league form will pick up.

They'll finish above us in the table, not by much and I think we'll both be mid-table.

And most importantly, I hope I'm wrong  :ayatollah:

Re: Jacks In Europe Tonight

I think the Jacks will get quite far in the competition if they pick up form a bit of course. The problem on the continent is not many teams play the way we did and will nullify their threat. Teams like Valencia and so on will try to get at them and leave themselves exposed. It takes an extremely disciplined tactical setup and perfect execution to beat teams who play the way Swansea, Liverpool now under Rodgers, Barcelona, Santos, etc. do. They try to keep the ball passing, ticking over. Chase them and play into their hands and you'll get punished.

I think it'll take a decent Champions League team being knocked out to enter the competition and beat them. Whilst they may have been found out in the league I think in Europe its a different ball game altogether and people judging them on 2 results against Russian opposition should stop fooling themselves as its a horrible place for any club to go.

There's a good chance of them getting one of Galatasaray, Shakhtar, Benfica, Juventus, CKSA Moscow, Basel, Dortmund, Napoli, Zenit, Ajax or Celtic depending on final group standings. A few of them are horrible trips and a few of them are horrible hard teams to beat. Celtic play a style of sit back and break which could pose them problems and the others are good footballing sides like Dortmund.

Whilst I do think they will eventually be knocked out, losing to one of the above teams is no embarrassment considering Swansea's level and the level of the other clubs.

Re: Jacks In Europe Tonight

I can't stand the Jacks, but there are some on here obsessed by them.
If we were the smallest club in the premier league and achieved what they have in the last couple of seasons we'd be loving it.
I don't hail them and certainly can't give them credit, it would stick in my throat, but to criticize their achievements is just silly.
Enjoy the fact that they've gone as far as they can, they are just not a big enough club to surpass what they've already done, whereas we are only just realizing our potential and have only touched the tip of the iceberg of what we can achieve.

Nah, they'd still be shite but onwards and upwards ;)

Read another thread where some JB was trying to explain that the lack of six fingered fellows at last nights match was due to the fact that it's on the Black Sea!!! I can turn around in my office and the Black Sea is around 100m away, can see it out of the window.
