I believe a guy in a band that was performing in Cardiff one night did it after seeing people doing it on TV after the Ayatollah died, and it just caught on . Something like that .

All I know is an 'Ayatollah' is a high ranking cleric in Islam.
On Wikipedia it says a band from Cardiff took over the idea after watching the death of Ruhollah Mostafavi Musavi Khomeini on TV, how relevant to Cardiff.
I've seen Muslims pray saying Allahu Akhbar, touching their heads as we do.
Why on earth do we do it still. I'm sure if alot of fans that have strong opinions on immigration would be shocked to discover that our main celebration is based on islam.![]()
