And to think we only sold him for 4.8 million with no sell on clause!

No sell on clause or bonus after so many games or goals is probably the worst decision ever. One of the best midfielders in the world at the moment

It's not as if we could have accepted a lower down payment for future incentives.
We probably would have gone bust if it hadn't been for Ramsey.

They said he was the next Gerrard when he was 15.
it certainly looks that way now. imagine he never broke his leg, he'd be 18 months ahead of where he is now

I agree we could have easily negotiated. Arsenal and Man Utd both had their bids accepted, we should have negotiated with them both to try and create a bidding war. Even if neither club were willing to bid more than the 4.8 million, we could have easily requested add ons such as sell on clauses, bonuses if he plays a certain number of games, gets a certain number of international caps etc. Every other club would request clauses like this when they are forced to sell a wonderkid to stay afloat, except us for some reason. Crazy!

Agreed. We weren't and inflation in the football market for a player of Ramsey's pedigree wasn't so high back then. People see £20m for Henderson and £15m for Allen and think we should have had that amount but the truth of the matter is the bang in football was quite quick and sudden and a lot more smaller teams started demanding more for their players and being more stubborn.
In 2008 Torres joined Liverpool for £26m and the likes of Sagna transferred for a mere £6m so to think we'd get a big fee for Ramsey back then, especially when Welsh football was hardly taken seriously by many, is laughable.

Midfielder Aaron Ramsey hailed a classic European away display as Arsenal beat last season's Champions League runners-up Borussia Dortmund in Germany.
The Gunners became the first English side to win in the Westfalenstadion after the Wales international continued his run of form with the only goal in the 62nd minute.
"It was a great achievement from the lads," Ramsey told Sky Sports.
"It is always a difficult place to come. We realise that from the last time we came here and drew 1-1.
"They got to the final last year and were unlucky and they are a strong team so we had to do our defensive work.
"We were very good defensively even thought we didn't have any shots in the first half and they had a few, even if it was from distance.
"We kept our shape really well, we were patient and it was a proper away performance from the lads and we got them on the counter-attack."
On his own goalscoring run after an 11th goal of the season Ramsey added: "I am enjoying myself at the moment and everything seems to be going in.
"I'm delighted with the way I'm playing and the goals I'm scoring."
