' The Bellamy effect '

Tue Nov 05, 2013 4:29 pm

Bellamy gets a lot of stick here now and then for being poor and some have said, including myself at times I will admit, he should be dropped and the likes of Noone should be given a go, but for me on Sunday his energy, tenacity and boyhood passion rubbed off on every other player. All 11 players on that day played for the shirt, the city and the fans as if they were born and bred Cardiffians who didn't want to let us down.

There's no doubt about it that he adds so much to our game and even the likes of Theo were well up for it and the way he bombed down the right wing time after time as Medel covered by dropping deep was amazing. His determination and passion to overlap and get forward as well as defend was something you'd expect from a top European level talent.

Bellamy made every attempt to get under Rangel's skin and it worked in my opinion as Rangel was moaning so much in retaliation and others like Whittingham (legend) got well stuck in. Sometimes we bemoan maybe Bellamy's lack of pace as he's age but we should appreciate the experience and mental edge he has over a lot of players and what others can learn from him.

The likes of Caulker, Mutch, Cornelius, Gunnarsson, younger stars and hopefully Kim, will see this passionate lunatic doing everything he can and if that even 100% rubs off on one of them we could quite possibly have another gem on our hands.

Odemwingie was outstanding as well on Sunday. His holding up of play was amazing and he did an amazing job until he was subbed for Campbell who himself come on and was an immense impact substitution as he stretched them with his pace. I do think we have a great blend of experience and youth in our team as it is and thats a credit to both Malky and Moody in terms of recruiting and Tan for releasing the funds to make it happen.

I also thought Malky got it 100% spot on in terms of tactics Sunday. Whittingham as a deep lying playmaker and Medel a bit deeper holding was perfect. Both can pass and both as Whittingham proved Sunday can tackle and get stuck in. They retained possession well and they kept things ticking over, Medel especially. Mutch's box to box power gave us a better balance going from one end of the pitch to the other also and we made more attempts to play out and be patient Sunday than in previous games. Even Turner, for all the stick he gets did well to not always clear the ball up field. Of course there was still a time and a place where a hoof was needed.

Finally Malky saw sense, realised Medel is top quality and didn't need a babysitter and played Whittingham in alongside him and it paid dividends. Lets just hope for the same setup against Villa.

Fast forward 100 years, we could get Craig out of a cryogenic freezing device and use him in future Derbys. He is that much of an impact in games where he is fired up.

I have never played the game and I am quite critical of it mate as someone who knows about computing I know its nothing more than a glorified spreadsheet, database and code bringing it all together.

Bellamy was top class Sunday, after that performance and his last performance for Wales he looks like he's back to his best, long may it continue because he is easily a premiership quality player in form like that

Any cardiff team without belllamy is a weaker cardiff team. Simply his belief and deire for success and work rate will result in every other player following suit.

The arrival of medel has taken us to a new level and hold high hopes for this team I think we are still improving with every game while other teams are declining or stale

I have been a life long fan of Bellars but have been thinking this season he is off the pace. However, relating to the original post - I think he had his best game by far this week for us. He was everywhere like the Bellars of old so fair play.

Do I still think Noone should play - YES but instead of Cowie not Bellamy IMO

great post James :ayatollah:

one thing i would say though, i think Gunnersson offered quite a bit when he came on, though i wasnt too happy to see Mutch go off at first, Gunnersson proved, to me at least, that he still has a place in this team and that that place doesnt have to be in Medels pocket!
