No clear-the-air meeting between Vincent Tan and Malky Mackay after Cardiff City's derby win
Cardiff City fans hoping for a truce between manager Malky Mackay and owner Vincent Tan will be saddened to hear their was no official meeting held between the two after yesterday's win against Swansea
Cardiff City's derby victory against Swansea did not prompt a clear-the-air meeting between Bluebirds manager Malky Mackay and club owner Vincent Tan.
The Malaysian money man refused to publicly back Mackay when given the chance in a post-match interview with Sky TV and the Scot’s future at the club remains a subject of much media speculation.
A meeting involving Tan, Mackay and chairman Mehmet Dalman had been scheduled to take place on Sunday night for several weeks, but days before the South Wales derby it was thought the owner may not be flying in.
While Tan did attend, Mackay’s long round of media interviews after the win meant it was a long time after the final whistle before there was any chance of a meeting.
The Bluebirds boss continues to be linked with a move to Norwich where manager Chris Hughton is under pressure after a 7-0 defeat against Manchester City. Tan said ‘no comment’ when asked whether he feared losing manager Mackay.
For the moment, at least, Canaries boss Hughton has support from both his squad and in the boardroom - although chairman Alan Bowkett last month warned the directors were expecting a top-10 finish at the end of the season following an unprecedented summer spending spree of more than £20million.
The former Newcastle and Birmingham manager is in no doubt he remains the right man to take the Norfolk club forward, having last season overseen an unbeaten 10-match run and an eventual 11th-placed finish.
"We have to stick together," he said.
"We have a match this Saturday that becomes a bigger game now, not just because of the defeat, but the manner of the defeat.
"We have to prove we are a good enough side, that we can get up this league and get the points and the only way we do that is on the football pitch."
After yesterday's derby win, Tan said ‘no comment’ when asked directly whether he feared losing manager Mackay, while fans in the Canton Stand unfurled a banner saying ‘Tan Out’ and there was a protest at the club’s colour change to red was held after the match.
Mackay did not talk about off-field issues apart from dedicating the win against Swansea to everybody at Cardiff City, players, staff, fans and the Welsh capital itself ‘because these have been a tough three or four weeks to endure’.
Fans have made it clear they are 100 per cent behind their manager even before his team delivered one of the most memorable days in Cardiff’s recent history.

Sure I read somewhere yesterday that they will get together in the next 48 hours

If Norwich are expecting a top 10 finish because they spent £20m then they are almost as out of touch as Tan is !

Steve, that was the original plan a couple of weeks ago and it was still expected this weekend, but Tan kept his distance and buggered off back to Malaysia. Hmm

Maybe the air is clear already. Or at least where they both stand on things.

Only at Cardiff City eh? We are a basket case of a club fair play. The knifes are out and Malky won't be here long, it's fecking criminal we are going to lose the best manager this club has had since Jimmy Scoular.

Your right sadly once again only at Cardiff City.
Malky is young and still learning, but I believe one day he will become a Top 5 manager in British Football.

I reckon, deep down, Tan is gutted we won. It would have been the perfect chance for him to put pressure on Malky to leave.

Maybe just maybe he has grasped it and realises the best chance of us staying in the premier league and him getting a return on his investment is to let Malky get on with his job and to stop making huge mistakes with his meddling

I think Tan has realized it would be a big mistake sacking Malky and run back to Malaysia with his tail between his legs. His ego is too big for him to come out and say he was/is wrong.

Annis, Personally I think the ball is rolling (no pun intended) I think now that the International press have got their teeth into him they will dig for dirt and they wont stop digging. There hasn't been much said about this which surprises me but the one thing that did surprise me was the almost complete dominance of BLUEBIRD BLUE I would imagine that pissed the mad emperor off as much as anything, he had a face like a bulldog licking piss off a thistle most of the times I looked over.
I think he realises he has burned bridges the question is, what does the crazy ol fart do next.
