' WHEN BOWEN AND LEGG SIGNED FOR CARDIFF CITY '

Sat Nov 02, 2013 4:30 pm

Just been having a chat with Annis on the blower and we were discussing all things Cardiff/Swansea from days gone by and what affect tomorrow's game will have on our team if we win etc.

Annis then tells me a story about Leggy and Bowen.

Legg had signed for us and Bowen was interested in signing but didn't know if he would be made welcome so kept in regular touch with Leggy to see how he was being accepted.

At an away game in Rochdale, Leggy scored and run over to the City fans on the side terrace to celebrate, Annis and others run down and Annis shouted in his face 'f**k off back to Swansea you Jack c**t!'

Leggy took a call from Bowen that evening and Bowen congratulated him on scoring and asked again 'is it time I signed for Cardiff?'

Leggy 'no it's still not safe'

Leggy became friendly with Annis later on in his Cardiff career and he tells him he has never forgot that moment in Rochdale.

Fair play he did win over the City fans :ayatollah:

I can remember that day as it was yesterday, Annis was evil that day towards Leggy and he turned out to be a City legend.

I was Bowen and his dad, my uncle Terry , last night at the Le Tiss gig.

Funnily enough Terry did mention how when Jason first moved to us that he would get abused by Cardiff fans when he took a cirner.

Jasons two oldest lads are with the City. One in the dev squad the other with the u15s so he told a reporter who phoned this week to ask him where his alegiances lie that most defo Cardiff. :malky:

Remember it well

I hated it when they signed and wished they'd both f**k off back.

In the end Leggy won me over, gave it all for us. :ayatollah:

As for Bowen, well, I wish he'd just listened to us.

I read that Legg said something similar.

But he stuck at it and ended up being one of City's best/fan favourite players.

I hated Legg but I remember the midweek game against the jacks where he showed his true City commitment that won me over. Was it an autoglass or welsh premier game?

Always be a City legend for me :ayatollah:

Never understood why the hatred for a player who takes the city's shilling and turns out for us.

South Wales is two sometime s three clubs. There is bound to be crossover.
Players ply their trade and take rough with smooth.

Bowen and leggy are top players and were great from day one. They have also given a lot back to local welsh league etc.

Well done lads :ayatollah:

Just goes to prove how stupid and childish we can be sometimes and I include myself in that. Good fr Annis to admit being embarrassed about the incident and making amends.

No one gave more for the shirt than Leggy and even now Leggy looks at his time at Cardiff with a great deal more affection than his days at Swansea.
