LAWRO/MERSON/SWANSEA FANS ~ WHAT ARE THEY SAYING??

Fri Nov 01, 2013 12:06 pm

Mark Lawrenson's predictions
This is an absolutely massive game, and first and foremost I hope that none of the fans do anything stupid.
I know all about the rivalry between the two teams, and I know they have never met in the Premier League before, but I hope their supporters keep some perspective - I would like to read about what has happened on the pitch, rather than off it, in the Sunday newspapers.
I have a feeling Swansea might edge it and they are probably quite confident themselves.
Their results have been improving after a difficult start to the season and, unlike Cardiff, they are looking up the table, not down it.

Lawro's prediction: 1-2

Tony Merson Predictions
When the fixture list came out in July the first game I looked for was Arsenal v Tottenham because I used to play in North London derbies and I know what they are like. However, this was the second fixture I looked for because I can't wait to see it. This is a massive match with so much at stake and I don't think I've seen a South Wales derby in the top flight in my lifetime. I really can't wait for this game to kick off.

Swansea have had a stop-start season, but seem to have picked up with a couple of good results in the last couple of weeks and I think they will get a draw on Sunday. We could get to a stage where neither of these teams will want to lose and nobody will want to make the mistake that costs his team the game. As a neutral, I want an early goal because that will give us lots of action but if it gets to 60 minutes all square then things could get a bit nervy and drizzle out. I don't think we will see any red cards though because if you look at the players on each team they are not really like that. Swansea are a nice football team and Cardiff play good football, so I don't see it boiling over. I think this will be tight.

PAUL PREDICTS: 1-1

New chant for Legoland away
Can our fans handle the complexity of one verse of The Stones - Paint it Black?
'I saw a blue team and I want them painted red
No backbone anymore now that they've turned red
We see them slap there head and pretend they are still blue
They sold their soul to Tan, and soon they will be through.'

This has 0-0 written all over it. First Welsh derby in the Premier League, hyped up to the hilt and live on Sky. Bound to be an anti-climax for the neutrals. Nailed on 0-0

1-2 Swans.... all goals in the 2nd half.
1-1 going into injury time then a dodgy penalty decision to us. Up steps JDG to right the wrong......
How sweet would that be

2-1 to scummers. Both cardiff goals from corners, 1 direct. 39 shots on target for us.

I dont think we will lose a draw at the very least, if we can break them down and score 1 . 3 to us otherwise 0-0

Much more pressure on Cardiff than us.Their next home games, after us, are Man U and Arsenal with two difficult away games in Villa and Stoke in between. If we beat them on Sunday their season could easily go into free fall.
