He has lovely movement, and is always looking to get himself in POMO (position of maximum opportunity) positions. He needs to work in his strength and conditioning, as in contact he doesn't dominate the space and would struggle playing up front on his own. He plays off the shoulder, and gives defenders problems in behind, even though he isn't lightning quick, his runs are intelligent.
I worry about the standard of the Development level, as the games are of good technical and tactical ability, sometimes there is nothing like playing competitive football against old pro's who "have been there and done it". I think this season for Rhys is one of confidence building, young players need to learn there game, and in a less competitive environment they can learn lessons without the pressure of having to win/lose football matches. Unlike Ben Nugent and Kadeem Harris, who I feel need the experiences of competitive league football right now in there development. I really believe the technical football staff down CCFC really do understand the end goals for all there players and as supporters of this club we should trust them.
There was a time where Cardiff "academy" was anything but, and was more of a fast track system, to making a quick buck. Development and maturity takes time a believe what Malky has put in place is a fantastic environment for all the youngsters.
If you haven't seen the development games, I recommend you watch them!
