We seem for some time to have changed tactics regarding our tackling. In my opinion when our players are tight on the opposition and we seem to hound them, then we look like a decent unit.
Recently we appear to be standing off the opposition and shadowing them thus giving them too much space and time rather than getting stuck in. I have just replayed the Norwich game and it was frightening how many times we did this and let the likes of Snodgrass have a field day.

Absolutely agree with you.
And part of the reason why we have so little possession in games is because most other teams immediately put us under pressure when we have the ball and we just don't seem to have the ability to keep the ball away from them.
As just one example, look at Oscar's goal against us last week. Pressured Gunnar into a mistake by being tight on him so that the moment he mis-controls just slightly, he was straight in there to take the ball away and head for goal.
We seem to allow the opposition as much time on the ball as they want right up to the edge of our penalty area and on Saturday Norwich were running the ball INTO the box without a challenge in sight.
If we're waiting for a misplaced pass or mis-control in order to get the ball back it's no wonder that we spend most of every game on the back foot.

Interesting points. Another reason we may sometimes look poor is that most prem players who have played at that level seem quite comfortable when being hounded and have the silky skills to still be able to deliver a good pass under pressure. We have not quite got that talent at the moment running through the whole team.
Also what is also against us is that there are some very quick players in the prem and we also struggle to match the pace. Given these disadvantages then there will be games where we struggle to compete.

Yeah fair point, but the players will get tired very quickly too, we seem to press only at certain times in games and stand off other times.

Trouble is that teams in the prem who tend to stand off the opposition normally get punished.
