I know we found out about this months ago but it looks like its definitely Going to happen . cardiff city will be listed on the Singapore exchange in the second half of next years trading !
This could be THE moment in our history forget the rebrand / cup finals / promotion
If we get well organised serious investment we could end up top 4 material
If We get a mad head we could end up broke like Portsmouth
A couple of todays stories
Reuters :
SINGAPORE: Malaysian tycoon Tan Sri Vincent Tan is also considering Singapore as a venue for the listing of his English Premier League club Cardiff City. The listing of the football club is likely to come in the second half of next year, industry sources told the Straits Times.
Tan, 61, who bought the club three years ago, is looking at two options: to list on home turf on BursaMalaysia, which is largely dominated by big state-owned funds and domestic investors, or pitch the offering to a wider investor base on the Singapore Exchange.- Reuters
New straights times :
Malaysian billionaire Vincent Tan is in talks with investment bankers in a lead-up to an initial public offering of his English Premier League club Cardiff City.
The listing of the football club is likely in the second half of next year, say industry sources.
The Straits Times understands that Mr Tan, 61, who bought the club three years ago when it was on the brink of insolvency, is mulling over a possible listing venue.
He is looking at two options: to list on home turf on Bursa Malaysia which is largely dominated by big state-owned funds and domestic investors, or pitch the offering to a wider investor base on the Singapore Exchange.
The tycoon appears to be on an aggressive drive to monetise his assets as he is also planning to list other private assets, namely convenience store chain 7-Eleven Malaysia, online payments firm MOL Global and mobile phone operator U-Mobile.

Floating a debt free high profile business on a stock exchange,a recipe to make a lot of money as well as attracting loads of investment.

So how do you plan on becoming high profile and debt free then?
You won't make money, Tan and the banks will. How anyone sees a float as a positive is beyond me. I would be literally terrifies if our club overnight had thousands of unknown shareholders, you have had enough issues with this one ffs

I will see what i can find out from my contacts here but find this a bit surprising as Man U couldn't meet the SGX requirements to list so not sure how we will based on our last 40+ years of negative trading...........

I'd rather be like Pompey

Ain't got a clue about all this stock market floating bollocks. Just hope tan knows what he's doing, and it all works out to be a good thing for our club and not just for tans bank account.

Speaking in Malaysia, Tan was quoted as saying:
"We will consider.
"We are looking at several options to raise money to pay the banks. I have invested so much, so now I need to raise some money. Listing is one of the options,"
"Listing is one of the options, but nothing is firm or definite yet."
..............
As I said, its to raise money for him and the banks and in the process you get a load of non footballing people having a say in the club. Its not a good thing from a fans perspective. Im not even convinced he is allowed to do it given the clubs history of losses or that it would even raise that much money.

This story in a non starter for the next few years as we are not debt free and don't meet the requirements

No change there, then! We've already got a load of non-footballing people having a say in the club. Or, running the club, to be more correct.

Let's hope Tan fucks off by then then. I'd much rather be like Pompey, fan owned, debt free and blue

I wouldn't want to be like Pompey at all but having saying that I don't want to be like we are now either. I simply want to be back in blue and tradition restored as to date I can not, for the life of me, understand why he had to change our colour or badge. There has been no explanation of this at all other than he feels that red is lucky

Exactly what I think!
As you know though, there is an unfortunate divide within the Cardiff fans due to this bloke... This is hardly going to benefit our club in the long run - It will probably piss off the pissed off fans even more... if that last part even makes sense
But hey, our club isn't making sence at the moment so f**k my sentences making sence.. Microwave.

EXACTLY!
Yet our fans continue to have the attitude of saying "It's his club, he can do what he wants"... reminds me abit of Jessie J's song It's My Party tbf.
Aslong as we don't give up the fight, we have a chance of getting back to our PROPER colour!

Agreed, some people do talk crap.
However, the statemment by CantonJack said "I'd much rather be like Pompey, fan owned, debt free and blue" - doesn't mention anything about being in League 2.
Anyway, I'd much rather play in a lower league and be blue than be in the premiership and be red and that isn't bollocks.

This article reveals quite a lot about Tans Intentions and indeed is A MASSIVE MOMENT for our club...
Just turn it around a bit...if you were an investor in Singapore why on earth would you buy some shares in Cardiff City FC? ...these type of floatation`s are very unusual in the Football world for one very good reason...Football clubs, over the long term, very rarely make a profit...so, what an investor is looking at is , in the future, will the share value go up? (This is a bit like if you purchase a house to rent out...on a year by year basis, you may not make a "profit" but over the long term the value of the house ,if sold, may increase in value.)
Tan now has to convince the investors that the POTENTIAL of CCFC is such that this will happen... the value of the shares will go UP.
However, STILL why would you invest in shares? your not a rich Russian Oligarch who is not too concerned about these things ...you are a normal Malaysian Joe blogs looking to put a few quid into a good investment opportunity...
Well, creating more shares to sell on will normally decrease the value of each share...so no investor will go for that!...
So it will depend on the reason TAN will give to the stock market for the floatation.
Lets LOOK AT Manchester United...a club bought by the Glazers via a huge debt DIRECTLY MORTGAGED against the CLUB ITSELF....how on earth could they go to the New York stock market and try to flog millions of new shares?..(about 10% of the Clubs value)...
Well , investors were promised that about 50% of the money raised would be directly used to pay off the clubs debt...
this act alone increased the Value of the Club as a whole and hence, they were able to shift the shares. This seems to be the route tan is taking. This has disappointed me some what... I was hoping that Tan would simple convert all his "unsecured" loans into shares (made out to himself) and take the hit. However, we will have to see the percentage of the club he will be offering in the floatation and the terms of the offer before we make any judgements!
On a small side point? Any ideas why the Mancester Utds share price dipped last year? ... this was directly as a result of a change in manager. Investors got nervous and began to sell. Tan will need a stable situation at CCFC to convince people to invest (hence his promise to work with Malkay for "many years to come")...mmm interesting as some would say!...
