Orange Mobile Problems

Wed Oct 23, 2013 12:58 pm

Anyone got any help or had the same problem.

Basically my mrs cancelled her phone contract months ago and told them by phone, they said fine and thought nothing more of it.
Then she got another bill, she phoned them up again and they said they didnt know she had cancelled so she said fine and told them again and paid that bill plus extra for some other charge they added.

They sent her a letter saying we are sorry you are leaving us. then she has another bill for £70 she phones them and says whats this and exmplains they said ok but you still owe us £32 and we will wipe off the rest and we will call you back once we have investigated - no call back so assumed it was finished.

Now another call from the orange debt department saying they want £107 + line rental they claim to have no record of any of the calls. She has refused to pay it and is waiting a call of a manager.

Baring in mind she hasnt used this phone at all for about 6 months its a bit more than a piss take.
She obviously doesnt want bad credit rating as we will be looking to buy a house in the future.

Any Help/Tips

You could try contacting your local Trading Standards for advice, I always send a letter or email cancelling my contract as well as over the phone as then there is a paper trail. Hope this helps

I've heard of this happening to a few people and they refused to pay, the only problem with that is believe it or not a contract phone shows as a form of a credit agreement and is loaded on the credit file. If you stop paying this will affect you obtaining finance in future affect your credit score and eventually you will have a CCJ or default loaded by the company.
I work in finance and I see it all the time people are not aware that signing up to a form of credit.

Similar things happened to me before, in the end just paid what they asked as didn't want to hassle and bad credit. Would have had to go to court to prove them wrong and really didn't want to.

Orange/EE are the scum of the mobile world. Make an official complaint in writing, give them a date by which you require a full reply. Inform them that if matters are not resolved to your satisfaction you intend to refer the matter to CISAS (http://www.cisas.org.uk/). Make sure you follow all the proper procedures. Ask them if calls are recorded as they are at most call centres to monitor the staff.

My brother in law was on the ferret before, they were really good actually :ayatollah:

Id fight it all the way tbh but looks like the mrs is going to pay it she doesnt want the hassle or bad credit rating. She has asked to speak to a manager and that takes 48 and a call back. We are both in work 8-4 today so hopefully ill get to speak to them.

Id take the advice form Blueyeti.. A paper trail is always the best. Without documents on their systems, there is no proof of your requests if your account isn't noted by the customer service advisor.

Personally I would pay it off because of the 'bad credit rating' etc but for future hassle with them or any other company - write a letter & photocopy it then send one of the letters off to them (keep one for your records) - use recorded delivery too, that way they can't claim they haven't received it or it has been lost in the post

Don't take them saying they haven't got records either cos EVERYTIME u ring it's logged cos they have to go through security with you same as any other debt you got they all lie saying u didn't call but they have to log it
Also I guarantee it's recorded ask for a copy of it they cannot refuse
Once you hit them with this they'll more than likely drop the amount owing cod if they have no tapes they have no proof that you didn't cancel even tho they have they try and prey on people it's sickening

3 done it to me once after 8 years with them I lost my job couldn't afford the bill, so they cut me off for non payment even tho I told them I could pay next month As I'd got a new job they refused left me cut off I never paid them again, they phoned the phone a few times when it suited them but I couldn't use it at all, they said I was in breach of contract for not paying I said I hadn't refused to pay just needed to pay double a month later theyhad nine if it so I countered them and said they were in breach for bit providing a service I was being charged for sent them a nice letter with all goods act etc went back and forth for months in the end I just refused to pay and they kept billing me I even sent them the phone back recorded delivery
Even with 8 years they were cunts over 1 bill shocking and they just cut you off, funny thing was I ain't got a house phone so they'd switch my service back on to ring me lol to try and get me to pay

They sold it on in the end I still haven't paid it to this day f**k EM

even funnier I got a contract with them again now as they cheapest around lol no problems taking out another one hilarious like

You cant take it straight to CISAS, you only go to them if you cant resolve it after about 6 weeks, CISAS will send you back first to try and resolve it 8-)

I had the same issue with Orange.

It ended up going down as a defaulted payment and destroyed my credit rating. a measley £97 stopped me getting a mortgage.

I had no option but to pay it and wait 6 months for my credit rating to improve before I could get a mortgage.

There's literally nothing you can do about it but complain, as soon as it goes on your credit file you're screwed and have to pay it or face being stuck with a poor credit rating.

It's bullshit.

f**k your local trading standards shit, you wont get anywhere with that...never gets you anywhere.

creditfilequeries@everythingeverywhere.com - Send them a letter once your predicament is sorted and they will amend your credit score. Its a certified 3rd party who work for the network and are allowed to amend credit score. Ive used them when I cancelled my broadband and I got an unexpected collections letter weeks before I was due to buy a house. They put my score right back up and I dealt with one person via email throughout the the whole thing who was superb.

AND.......I WORK FOR EE/ORANGE. :ayatollah:

Im back in on monday, if your happy to ill look at your account if you PM the number or postcode and surname in question and ill look through your bills, payment details (not actual bank details, cant see that...dont worry) etc and try and shed some light, they cant just be asking for that money for no reason.....understanding all these charges is half the battle....if something doesn't add up i can get on it.

FAIL MATE, MASSIVE FAIL. Shame you weren't given sound advise. I would have got that sorted for you no problem. My points dropped by 180 because of a 17 bill, they ended up putting it up by 200! haha.
