We are currently where we are in the table because we have yet to play any teams within our mini league at home. We have had a tough start, playing Man City, Chelsea, Spurs and Everton - 4 teams that finished in the top 6 last season. With the teams we have had to play, I think 8 points from 8 games is an excellent start.
People are saying how Norwich next Saturday is a must win game, but I would take a point now. Any point away from home in this league is a good result. The key is our home games against teams like Palace and others within this mini league who are currently down the bottom end of the table with us. I'm confident if at our best, we will get the better of the majority of teams within our mini league and that will virtually guarantee us safety.
There's so much over reacting at the moment and I think it's about time we all realise that there is no need to panic when a team like Chelsea beats us and there is definitely no need to panic if we only get a draw next Saturday at Norwich. Any point away from home against any team in this league is a good result and the only reason to start worrying will be if we fail to beat teams like Palace at home. Palace in my opinion are by far the worst team in the league and they are the only team I think we have a good chance of taking maximum points from (aside from Fulham after our away win). If we lose at home to Palace, then it's the time to panic, but currently, I am not worried about our current league position at all as our "easiest" home game so far has been against Newcastle.
If at our best, we are capable of beating Palace, Hull, Sunderland, Stoke, Fulham, Villa, Norwich, West Brom and West Ham at home. I also think we will get at least a draw at home to the jacks as we will get in their faces and press them with our high energy to stop them playing. If we win the majority of these home games while getting the odd win and the odd point on the road to go with our current 8 points, we will be in a very good position. It's nowhere near time to panic yet.
Good post Tonteg, but we def need a win at Norwich Tue Oct 22, 2013 10:35 pm

Tony, we never usually disagree, but I honestly think we need 3pts, no matter what. With the Jacks game,Villa,Arsenal,Man Utd coming up, I dont want to be stuck in the bottom 3/4 come December.

Thanks Annis. A win at Norwich would be great, but I honestly don't think a point would be a disaster at all away from home. I believe if we win as many games as possible at home, particularly against those teams in our mini league who will likely finish in the bottom half, that will give us an excellent chance of not only surviving, but having a decent season. West Ham's record last season shows how important our home form can be for us.

I will be happy with that at this moment in time. Just remember that taking a point, is depriving one of our main rivals of 2 more points
