' Schalke 0-3 Chelsea ' One of the Best teams in Germany

Tue Oct 22, 2013 9:49 pm

Schalke, one of the best teams in the Bundesliga - the best league in the world (my opinion), just lost to Chelsea by the same deficit as we did. This puts into perspective we have no right to take points off the better teams in our league.
We are currently where we are in the table because we have yet to play any teams within our mini league at home. We have had a tough start, playing Man City, Chelsea, Spurs and Everton - 4 teams that finished in the top 6 last season. With the teams we have had to play, I think 8 points from 8 games is an excellent start.

People are saying how Norwich next Saturday is a must win game, but I would take a point now. Any point away from home in this league is a good result. The key is our home games against teams like Palace and others within this mini league who are currently down the bottom end of the table with us. I'm confident if at our best, we will get the better of the majority of teams within our mini league and that will virtually guarantee us safety.

There's so much over reacting at the moment and I think it's about time we all realise that there is no need to panic when a team like Chelsea beats us and there is definitely no need to panic if we only get a draw next Saturday at Norwich. Any point away from home against any team in this league is a good result and the only reason to start worrying will be if we fail to beat teams like Palace at home. Palace in my opinion are by far the worst team in the league and they are the only team I think we have a good chance of taking maximum points from (aside from Fulham after our away win). If we lose at home to Palace, then it's the time to panic, but currently, I am not worried about our current league position at all as our "easiest" home game so far has been against Newcastle.

If at our best, we are capable of beating Palace, Hull, Sunderland, Stoke, Fulham, Villa, Norwich, West Brom and West Ham at home. I also think we will get at least a draw at home to the jacks as we will get in their faces and press them with our high energy to stop them playing. If we win the majority of these home games while getting the odd win and the odd point on the road to go with our current 8 points, we will be in a very good position. It's nowhere near time to panic yet.

Us loosing at Chelsea, I had no problems with at all, we played a World Class club team and we can feel proud of how we performed on the day :ayatollah: Good post Tonteg, but we def need a win at Norwich

Agree with the OP - A point away from home at Norwich would be a good result ( IMO ) .

Tony, we never usually disagree, but I honestly think we need 3pts, no matter what. With the Jacks game,Villa,Arsenal,Man Utd coming up, I dont want to be stuck in the bottom 3/4 come December.

I Agree Annis 3 pts would be welcomed.but we need to avoid defeat.
I Think we will pick up some pts with the Swansea and Villa games .
But if this all goes wrong ...Mr Tan said he would not spend anymore money if we were in a safe position ;)

Thanks Annis. A win at Norwich would be great, but I honestly don't think a point would be a disaster at all away from home. I believe if we win as many games as possible at home, particularly against those teams in our mini league who will likely finish in the bottom half, that will give us an excellent chance of not only surviving, but having a decent season. West Ham's record last season shows how important our home form can be for us.

I agree, if we win our home games, then yes we will stay up, but so far 1 home win out of 4, but a lot of good points in your posts

The Norwich game will be very difficult, just remember it is a bigger game for them and more important that they take all 3 points against us, so we are going tovar to be at our very best just to get a point from this game. I will be happy with that at this moment in time. Just remember that taking a point, is depriving one of our main rivals of 2 more points

Totally agree. The majority of us are saying this is a must win game, so imagine what Norwich are thinking? Before the season started, home to Cardiff would be a game Norwich have marked down as one they must win. They will come out all guns blazing and give it everything. A point this Saturday will be an excellent result.

German league aint the best in the world.
Premier is by far the best and most difficult league.
We may not have the best teames, however we do have more top teams.
Wile the rest have 2 maybee 3 very good teams we have 5 or 6 and with every club offering different challenge's.

Wolfsburg won the Bundesliga not so long ago. I personally think Bayern, Dortmund, Barca and Real Madrid are so far ahead of any Premiership team currently. Arsenal are in unbeliveable form but Dortmund won there without really hitting top gear. Atletico Madrid are trying to close the gap on Barca and Real Madrid mind.

I think the Premiership is wide open this season because Fergie has left Man Utd, Chelsea have had a dodgy start, Man City can't defend without Kompany, Spurs have used the Bale money plus spent extra on top to improve their squad and Arsenal have signed Ozil, plus Ramsey is in the form of his life and Giroud has started very well. I think any of those 5 can currently win the title. You're right Premiership teams like us have more tougher games with these 5 teams in our league, but I still don't think any of these 5 are on the same level as Barca, Real Madrid, Bayern and Dortmund.

Dortmund stuffed Real Madrid and Bayern beat Arsenal in the first leg at the Emirates. Also, Bayern stuffed Barca and the Champions League final was Dortmund v Bayern. Dortmund took 4 points off Man City in the group stages last season. Definitely the Bundesliga for me, I think Bayern and Dortmund will both reach at least the semis again this season.
