" NORWICH C v CARDIFF C 3pm SATURDAY 26th OCTOBER 2013 "

" CARDIFF CITY "

So far Cardiff City have no new new injuries, so Malky Mackay will have a near full strength Squad to pick from

' David Marshall '
“We believe in ourselves and each other,” says Marshall. “We will be fully prepared as always and will stick to the game-plan.

“There were positives to be taken from our defeat at Chelsea. The 4-1 scoreline was hard to take, but the team performance was excellent for an hour or more.

“Now we must go into the Norwich match with that same belief and attitude.” :ayatollah:

Norwich City face 'huge' Cardiff game, says Alex Tettey

Norwich City midfielder Alex Tettey has said Saturday's visit of Cardiff is a vital fixture in their Premier League campaign after back-to-back defeats.
The Canaries have suffered losses in four of their last five games - most recently to Chelsea and Arsenal.
And Cardiff could make it three consecutive defeats at Carrow Road for Chris Hughton's side.
"It's huge. We have had two home games where we have lost," the Norway international told BBC Radio Norfolk.

"At home is where we do our business and we haven't done that in the last few games. Hopefully we can get the crowd behind us and get the three points against Cardiff."

Malky Mackay's side are one place and one point above Norwich, who remain in the relegation zone after losing 4-1 at Arsenal on Saturday.
That result followed a similarly promising, but ultimately fruitless outing against Chelsea two weeks earlier, which the Blues won 3-1.
"We have played well. We haven't got any results from those two but we have to take the performance and channel it into three points against Cardiff," said Tettey.
"You have those periods where you play well and it doesn't pay off.
"We should keep our heads up and continue to work and believe in ourselves."
The 27-year-old has played as part of a central midfield trio alongside Johnny Howson and Leroy Fer in the Canaries' last three games.
But the Ghana-born player expects Hughton to sacrifice a midfielder to play strikers Ricky van Wolfswinkel and Gary Hooper together in the future.
"We cannot play like this in every game. We have strikers and the gaffer will want to play two upfront," he said.
"We have four good strikers. You don't buy two strikers for millions of pounds and not use them. So we'll see."

Cardiff boss Malky Mackay

is set to be without Andreas Cornelius for the clash at Norwich on Saturday but he is the only doubt. Striker Cornelius is the only worry for the Bluebirds, as he is still struggling with a foot injury which has prevented him from playing since the Capital One Cup clash with Accrington. Peter Odemwingie and Fraizer Campbell will be pushing to start again while Jordon Mutch will also be hoping his recent form is enough to get him the nod. Mackay takes his side to struggling Norwich on Saturday with both sides desperate for a win to drag themselves away from the wrong end of the table.

Chris Hughton urges Norwich City fans to look at the bigger picture -

Hughton remains convinced he has a squad capable of building on last season’s mid-table Premier League finish as they prepare to host the Bluebirds at Carrow Road mired in the bottom three.

“If I look at our position this time last season we are a point better off,” he said. “We then went on a good run that carried us up the table and that is the game. When you are playing with confidence you have to try and get results. You see Fulham winning a couple of days ago and it lifts them a few places up the table.”

“We have got a really good group. We haven’t felt the need to change anything in respect of what we are doing in training. They have an excellent work ethic and they are focussed on turning things around. We are confident about what we do and we will go into Saturday’s game looking to win.

“We felt we should have got something more from particularly the Chelsea match so if you keep that belief and keep playing in that vein results will turn. Of course we all know it is a results-business. To that end it comes down to being brave in possession and believing in what you are doing. You can talk about things like formations but it is more about how you play, not the system.”

Fancy us nicking this one 2-1. Nice attacking team with some nice options on the bench either way. If we need to close it out we have gunnar, or Bellamy if we need to chase the win.

Disappointing that Campbell is starting up front over Odemwingie.

Looks like we're playing 4-4-2 with Odemwingie and Campbell up front :?:

Really? Not sure if Kim will have much of an affect on the game if he starts on the wing.

My guess on the midfield:

......Medel....Mutch.....
Odem....Whitts....Kim
.........Campbell

Maybe Whitts and Mutch swapping, but I'd prefer the above.

3-1 City :ayatollah:

Hmm agreed. We'll soon see what formation we're playing :ayatollah:

Lucky to still be in this but unlucky not too have taken the lead.

We do look nervous though.

Whitts playing really well, Kim not so much. He just can't seem to get a foot on it, bring Bellers on at about 60 minutes for Kim

Re: NORWICH C V CARDIFF C OFFICIAL MATCH THREAD

Sat Oct 26, 2013 2:34 pm

We need to find a way to change the run of play, otherwise it's only a matter of time until Norwich take the lead.

Re: NORWICH C V CARDIFF C OFFICIAL MATCH THREAD

Sat Oct 26, 2013 2:37 pm

We get to half time on level terms then that will be excellent.

Norwich look the more determined and playing as if their lives depend on it. Hoefully their heads will go down if they do not score soon.

KTC's crossing has been terrible, but no one else seems to want to have a go other than him.

Re: NORWICH C V CARDIFF C OFFICIAL MATCH THREAD

Sat Oct 26, 2013 2:41 pm

I think we're giving them far too much respect. KTC looks like he runs out of ideas when he gets into the final third, and we need somebody in the middle to slow things down and keep the ball a bit. I'd agree with Bellers for Kim in the 2nd half and put Odemwingie in the middle.

Re: NORWICH C V CARDIFF C OFFICIAL MATCH THREAD

Sat Oct 26, 2013 2:44 pm

Kissing Gunnarsson in the middle I think. They're just running through the middle. Either that it Mutch is too far forward

Giving the ball away much too easily. Medel looking fatter than he did at the start of the season. Not looking good.
Fancy us to nick this 1-0 :laughing6:

Need to hang on till half time. Norwich have been the better team but we have had a chance or two.

They are causing problems down the wing and through the central midfielf. This is where Cowie would come in and sort it out.

Re: NORWICH C V CARDIFF C OFFICIAL MATCH THREAD

Sat Oct 26, 2013 2:46 pm

We are sitting far too deep. Where has our midfield gone? KTC can't cross to save his life today. Marshall (like quite often this season) has stopped it from being 2 or 3. Need to sort this out.

I can understand being wary of the likes of Messi etc running at you, but this is Norwich - we seem to be backing off something chronic all the time...

we are sitting far to deep and just letting them run at us.we should be dead and buried by know.

come on malky sort it out :ayatollah:

Re: NORWICH C V CARDIFF C OFFICIAL MATCH THREAD

My half time observations.

Positives.....
Marshall is a very good goalkeeper
Mutch is a very good and intelligent player.

Negatives.....
Taylor is not a Premier League quality left back. Dyer would murder him.
Theophile although athletic lacks intelligence
Medel will soon lose his undeserved hero status if he carries on. He has been annonymous yet again, the game is passing him by - as are the Norwich midfield and attack.
Kim is very lightweight
Odemwingie is not a winger.

You sit far too deep and fill the box with numbers, this could be 3-0 or 4-0 with no real complaints. You will need a much better 2nd half to get the 3 points.

Poor tactics or players not good enough to execute? Discuss

Re: NORWICH C V CARDIFF C OFFICIAL MATCH THREAD

Sat Oct 26, 2013 2:56 pm

We are giving Norwich the luxury to basically have their defence line on the half way.

We are not having any influence in midfield. Kimbo is doing nothing to make an effect there.

Don't be surprise to see Cowie come on.
