Derry City away 1988. Only 50 went and had a great trip on the rebel bus!! Many drinks sunk in Brownhills my old pub before setting off.

Tremendous support! If my memory serves me right, Derry City played in the Bogside, which was an IRA stronghold. It took great nerve for those lads to travel out there at the height of the troubles in Northern Ireland. Did hear, though, that the locals went out of their way to avoid any trouble, and the City fans had a decent reception. 0-0 was it?

Goes without saying that I only went to the game at Ninian Park. Won 4-0.

Those were good times, late 80s, with Frank Burrows as manager. Divisions 3 and 4. Happy days!

Very true, the coach had to have protection going through the areas, but not just normal police. In the end, everyone was friendly :ayatollah:

Loved Frank Burrow :ayatollah:

Missed this one but watched the city in Derry a few years later as part of a pre season tour under Eddie May. What a cracking trip that was :ayatollah:
