Cardiff City captain Steven Caulker insists team are 100% behind Malky Mackay after Chelsea loss

Saturday's rout came after a turbulent fortnight for the club following the departure of head of recruitment Iain Moody, but stand-in skipper Caulker stressed the controversy has not undermined resolve in the dressing room
Captain Steven Caulker emerged defiant from Cardiff City’s 4-1 defeat to Chelsea, underling the squad’s unanimous backing for manager Malky Mackay and vowing to bounce back against Norwich this weekend.
While on the wrong end of a heavy defeat at Stamford Bridge, by common consent there was scant justice for City in the final scoreline.
It came after a turbulent fortnight for the club following the departure of head of recruitment Iain Moody, but Caulker stressed the controversy has not undermined resolve in the dressing room.
“They were a long two weeks, but the manager will always have our full backing,” said Caulker.
“He has been brilliant during my short time with Cardiff and we are all looking forward to the matches coming up.
“We support the gaffer and Iain Moody.
“And we all hope it’s sorted now and that we keep Malky Mackay here as long as possible.
“He did a great job getting Cardiff City promoted and we have made good progress in proving ourselves at Premier League level.”
Reflecting on the loss to Jose Mourinho’s men, Caulker added: “We are upset with the result, but every player showed a lot of courage and dug deep.
“Chelsea’s talent shone through and they were worthy winners by the final whistle, but for 70 minutes there were a lot of positives.
“Now we go to Norwich looking for three points.
“We believe in ourselves and each other. Chelsea were a little too strong for us over the last 20 minutes, but we produced a decent performance for a long time and our tactical discipline was excellent.
“It was a harsh scoreline, but Chelsea deserved the points. Small thing cost us in the end. A few of us are disappointed with little bits of our own games, myself included.”
“But we believe we can win at Carrow Road.
“And we do need to take points off the teams around us.”
